John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Favourites : Nourishing Oil-Elixir, Original and Perfect Finishing Serum

John Frieda Frizz-Ease favourites Nourishing Oil Elixir $16.99,  Original 6 Effects Serum $16.99 and Perfect Finishing Polishing Serum $16.99 all available at www.priceline.com.au

John Frieda's Frizz-Ease range has had a major make over, the new candy coloured packaging made me swoon just a bit and the range has been expanded to include some great new products. The new look packaging is bright and fun, with each product colour coded making it easy for you to pick out your favourite on the sea of white and beige shelves of Priceline. I was lucky enough to be able to try out the complete range for review, I've picked my favourite products to share with you and a few tips and tricks on how make them work with my hair:

Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir
This is the oil of the gods, if you have dry or over processed coloured hair this is like giving your hair a zap of hydration whilst also treating your ends to a bit of TLC. It is best to apply this oil when you are straight after of a hot shower, towel dry your hair warm two pumps of oil between your hands and apply to hair in a finger combing motion - oil loves warmth to thin it out and apply more evenly. After you have worked the oil through evenly pop your towel back on your head to allow it to penetrate into your hair even more. If I am having a lazy then this is all I will do and let my hair air dry, the oil gives great shine and controls fine fly aways and frizz like a pro.
Original 6 Effects Serum
The Original Serum is still as amazing as ever, best applied to semi dried hair and then brushed through with a bristle brush to allow for a more even coating of the hair. If I am blow drying or straightening my hair then this is an essential, it protects against heat styling and controls my very fine hair from being a static mess, without weighing it down or becoming too oily. If you are looking to try John Frieda's Frizz Ease line start with Original and the best.
Perfect Finish Polishing Serum
This product has been a revelation for me in attacking helmet hair! I love putting loose waves in my hair but it can look a bit too 'done' and like a helmet if I don't add a bit of slip and movement to it I end up looking like I am wearing a wig. After curling my hair I spritz with a small amount of John Frieda Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Hairspray (amazing for blondes!) then brush through to loosen the curl, 2 pumps of the Polishing serum rubbed between my palms I finger comb the serum through - magic! It breaks up the wave and gives an amazing finish to your loose curls

If you are looking to try a new serum, the new candy coloured John Frieda range cannot be missed, and with a serum for every kind of hair woe you can imagine from major frizz to minor John Frieda has got your back!

D.I.Y: How to easily remove Gel or Shellac nail polish at home!

Are you an obsessive polish picker? Me too! Picking off Gel or Shellac polish is one of the most damaging things you can do to your poor defenseless nails. But once I've got one little chip in my polish then I just can't stop picking and having to waiting to get to a salon to have it removed by a professional will drive me crazy. So removing at home is the only way I will save my nails from being picked to death. Here are my full proof removal steps for Gel and Shellac polish:
-Scissors
-Acetone (found at beauty supply stores or buy online)
-Aluminium foil
-Cotton rounds
-Nail file and buffer
-Glass jar (I used an old candle jar)

Time to PREP!Cut up 10 Aluminium foil into 15cm x 10cm pieces and cotton rounds into triangles, doing this will save you faffing about and mess.
1. No matter how grown out do not attempt to pick and peel off Gel or Shellac, you will ruin your nails!
2. Using a coarse nail file, file off the topcoat layer of the polish. Making the surface of your nails is rough to the touch. This allows the acetone to break down the Gel or Shellac polish more easily.
3. Place cotton triangles into the glass jar and add 30mls of Acetone, pop an acetone soaked cotton triangle on a nail. (Acetone will melt plastic so that is why a glass jar is important)
4. Place an aluminium foil square under your finger.
5. Wrap up your finger in the aluminium, keeping the cotton triangle on your nail.
6. Continue wrapping all your fingers up carefully, this can be a little fiddly but take your time. Leave nails wrapped up for 20-30mins. Pinch and wiggle your nails whilst they are in the wraps to loosen the polish off your nails.
7. This is what my nails looked like once wraps came off, although it looks like they haven't taken off the shellac with a gentle buffing nail file the rest of the polish comes off very easily. A final wipe of an acetone soaked cotton round and any remnants of blue shellac is gone.
8. TAADAA! Shellac free nails!

Please comment down below if you are a fellow polish picker and if you attempt my at home DIY Gel or Shellac removal!

OUTERGOLD! An interview with Carney Nir co-founder of Outergold the Australian online luxe beauty emporium.

Outergold is an Australian based online Beauty emporium which stocks lust worthy brands with street-chic-cred like Rodin, Uslu Airlines, Kester Black, Lurk and Embryolisse to name a few.
I discovered Outergold on Instagram and instantly connected with their love and dedication to finding new and beautiful products for the store, every item is handpicked for its unique qualities. Outergold is a rare gem and is one a kind in the Australian beauty market, a rebel amongst the monopoly of department stores in the beauty game. Carney Nir Co-Founder of Outergold answered a few questions about where and how Outergold started and also gave me a few of her own beauty tips and tricks....

How did you start Outer Gold? Was there a catalyst or frustration which lead to the beginning of the site?
It started the way all great ideas start - over wine. My business partner Bridget and I both have busy full time jobs, and were doing a lot of online shopping. We were chatting about how there's no beauty website that looked like the kind of store we like to shop at for fashion items. We also couldn't work out why you can't buy some of the amazing brands we'd found on our overseas travel in Australia. So we decided to start our own!

The brands which you carry all have cult status or luxe-cred in the beauty world, how do you decide which brands to stock and where do you find out about them?
It's a mixture of brands we've found overseas, brands that our friends have told us about...it's an ever evolving learning process, and nearly every week we find another brand that we love. Over the next year you'll see a few more new amazing brands added to the mix, which we're super excited about.

Outer Gold is one of the only independent online beauty stores in Australia, do you think there will be more starting to compete with the major department stores and other high end retail outlets with the changing economic climate of the beauty retail? (i.e. the mark up on products that majors put on products and the import tax on cosmetics)
Thank you! It's obviously a consideration for us, but we have such a specific customer in mind that so far it hasn't really been a major concern. Our objective when starting the site was that we wanted to stock brands that were niche and hard to find and to make sure that we had the best customer service for girls like us that love music, art and travel as well as fashion and beauty. Being small allows us to do that and to listen to our customers and adapt to what they want and need.

What is your favourite form of social and online beauty media? Do you keep up to date with beauty bloggers through social media? And who are some of your faves?
Yes absolutely, we're inundated with it! We work closely with beauty and fashion bloggers and beauty editors - we have too many faves to name!

Holy Grail product time, what products can you not live a day without and how do you use them?
Any type of oil! I'm obsessed with oils for skin, oils for hair, oils for body...the top shelf item is RODIN olio lusso which is definitely worth saving up for. I also love Earth Tu Face's Face Serum with Blue Chamomile and Carrot Seed. It's completely natural, super hydrating and I always look like I got a few extra hours of sleep the next morning when I use it at night!

What was your first beauty purchase and what has been your latest beauty purchase?
My first beauty purchase was probably either some lavender-scented product or in all likelihood some sort of Red Earth lipstick (it was the 90s!) My latest purchase has been a couple of Lurk Beauty fragrance oils. They smell amazing and don't have any alcohol or water in them, which is great for me as I have sensitive skin and am pretty much allergic to everything!

Which is your favourite and most referenced era of beauty and who are some of your all time beauty icons?
I love the 20s and the 60s if I had to pick. Our favourite ladies include Debbie Harry, Kim Gordon, Linda Rodin...the list goes on. All very different, all amazing.

What are your go to 'party girl' products for a night out dancing?
Eyeliner and bright lipstick. You don't need anything else!

Any unique and weird beauty tips and tricks?
Bridget and I always say, when in doubt throw on a bright lip. It takes 2 seconds, brightens your mood and you don't need to have any sort of special beauty know high to do it. I always have about 15 different colours floating around in my bag.

Finally, how would you spend your last $100 ever in an afternoon?
I feel like you can't go wrong with a bottle of champagne.

Thanks Carney!

Sephora Favourites 'Meet your Match' Value Set - Is it worth it?

Sephora Favourites 'Meet your Match' Value Set $25.00 available from www.sephora.com

If you're an avid reader of Beauté Gazette then firstly - Thank you so much and I hope you continue to read and support my beauty adventures! Secondly you would know that I live in Australia, which sometimes feels like I am living on the moon, we don't have access to amazing US based stores like Sephora and to make it worse they wont even ship their amazing products to our shores if you shop online. *Bangs head in frustration*
So whenever family or friends go to the States I ask them to pick me up a value set from Sephora because they are easy to find instore and are compact to pack. The packs are usually a great deal and I get to try a bunch of different products which aren't available locally. When my main buddy and tumblr partner in crime Greta returned from NYC on Sunday with a very anticipated as a pressie from Sephora, I was so so so so excited to try out all the products. The box she picked up for me was the 'Meet Your Match' box set which features 'A lip and nail set that features the most covertable lip and nail hues'  says Sephora. Here is my review of all 6 mini sized products packed into this cute little box:

Bite Beauty Lip Gloss in 'Lush Fruit'
I have been very curious about the Bite lip products they've had great reviews online. This lipgloss is just a very standard lipgloss, nothing fancy or out of the norm, when on the lips the pigmentation is sheer and it is quite thick in consistency. I love the colour, it is a muted magenta which is really really pretty on the lips.

Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lipgloss in 'Child'
The texture of this gloss is really comfortable on the lips, it glides on and isn't sticky at all. The colour is a bit meh on the lips not pigmented at all and you can see your natural lip colour under the gloss, but gives a nice glossy finish. I am definitely keen to test out this gloss in the different shades available.

Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Tint in 'Elite'
I totally love the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes and was really excited about trying the Lip Tints. This is very similar to the Revlon Balm Stains and even has a minty scent too. Because it is so similar other formulas I have tried before and so it kind of feels a bit  been there done that with this product.

Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish in 'Girls just want to have fun'
When Greta handed me the box this was the first product that jumped out at me, the colour is perfection! I have always loved Deborah Lippmann's formula polish. Orange based red coloured polishes are my go to pedi colour of choice, and I am desperate to get this colour on my toes STAT!

Nails Inc Nail Polish in 'Devonshire Row'
Nails Inc has been a hot and miss brand for me with the products I have tried previously, it gets talked about alot by UK bloggers but every colour I have tried has been a fail. The colour is ok but nothing special and the formula isn't the best. This is the biggest disapointment in the 'Meet Your Match' box.

Sephora Formula X Nail Polish in 'Invincible'
Why oh why isn't there Sephora in Australia? Apart from stocking incredible premium brands, Sephora's own brand of products are one of my favourite lines instore and especially their nail polishes. Formula X is the latest realese and I love it!  'Invincible' is a bone coloured nude which takes 2-3 coats like a standard nude polish does but I love it.

So is it worth $25.00? Yes! I mean there are some misses in the box but trying out products like this is a great way to know if you would like to buy the full sized product.

Organic Oils for Oily Skin with La Mav

La Mav Pure Argan Oil $24.95 and La Mav Ultra Hydration Intense Moisture Nightly Repair Nectar $49.95 available from www.lamav.com

There is a common misconception that if you have oily skin then you should steer clear of all makeup and skin care containing oils, this becomes even more misleading with the amount of products slapping an 'Oil Free' slogan onto their bottles and targeting them to oil skin. Yes some oils can be too heavy for skin and cause break outs but what if I told you hand on my heart as a fellow oily-skinned woman that using oils on my face my skin has actually started producing less natural oils which cause makeup to slip slide away before lunch.
I started trialling products from La Mav about 2 years ago, the brand offers a variety of facial oils which are all 100% organic and targeted to specific concerns like anti-aging and hyper pigmentation. Over that time I have tried a various oils from all the lines, the Vitamin-C line has too many active ingredients for my skin and my skin was very sensitive too it. Having a reaction like this is very common when you are trailing natural products. But try not to worry about it, your skin is just telling you to try something else and ittakes time to find the right oil match for your skin. Once you find the right oil for your skin, you will know because the signs are easy to spot : Glowing! Radiating with health! and constant compliments! Are just a few of the effects that are quickly noticed.
The La Mav Organic Pure Argan Oil for day wear under makeup and the Ultra-Hydration Nightly Nectar for night time application are my current favourite day and night oils. Using them both combined on a daily basis my skin has dramatically changed my skin, it is less oily in my t-zone and has a more even hydrated feel and look. If you have combination skin, I would recommend experimenting with using natural organic oils to try and control your oily areas, it has worked for me and my skin feels amazing for it.

Elle Fanning the princess of Colour POP! Make Up Store's NEW bright and bold Mircoshadows

The colour POP! eye shadow princess herself Elle Fanning has been rockin' some amazing bright coloured eye looks recently. From the very pretty peachy orange shadow at the Maleficent premier to a bold blue liner on the red carpet the bright eyeshadows have been the perfect pairing for her always adorable outfits. Teamed with a fresh face the a colour POP! eye look can be a cute statement without being over powering on any skin tone. This trend can be a little intimidating, so here are a few tips to pulling off the bright and bold eye trend:
- Always line your upper tight line, working the liner into your lash line with a black kohl liner pencil is best. This gives your eyes definition and avoids the bright shadow blending into your lashes.
-If you want to intensify the look apply a similar colour eye liner as a base and the patt the shadow on top to create a budge free bold block colour.
-Make your eyes be the only statement makeup on your face to avoid a clown-like disarster, teaming a bold eye with fresh and neutral base and natural lips like Elle.
- A very easy and wearable way to add the pop is to keep the bright colour close to the lash line and then add a cat flick liner with a gel or liquid liner.
Always up for a new make up challenge, I will be re-creating the colour POP! trend and posting photos to my instagram to check out if it was flawless or a fail follow @beautegazette for updates!

Marble Shadow in 'Black Vermont' $35.00 available from May, Micro Shadow in 'Orange Peel' $35.00 available from July &  Micro Shadow in 'Blue Mist' $35.00 available from June
For more information or to find your closest store please go to www.makeupstore.se

Make Up Store is releasing a range of colour POP! shadows which I love. They're all amazingly pigmented pefect to be applied as a bold colour or easily blended out to create a colour wash all over the eye a'la Elle Fanning above at the Maleficent Premier. There are a rainbow of colours to choose from at Make Up Store so if you're not into orange or blues and your have brown or hazel eyes try a purple pop or liner for an instant WOW! Be sure to check out the amazing Make Up Store Shadows out online or instore to get inspired for your next colour POP! look.

Sensory overload for Mother's Day at Lush....

Lush Bath Bomb in Secret Garden $5.95 available from www.lush.com.au

This Mother's Day I decided to treat my very spunky Mum to a sensory overload of colour, smell and relaxation at Lush with  an arm and hand soak, exfoliation and massage. It was the perfect Mother's day activity which was filled with discovering amazing new Lush products and an amazing treatment.

Like mother like daughter, she definitely passed down her love of very bright and colourful fashion, don't you think?

After Mum had almost bought one of everything in the shop, we sat down for our treatments with the lovely and super gorgeous Alicia (Hi Alicia if you are reading this!) who talked us through the treatment and asked our favourite scents to make a customised hand soak. We both said : Rose and Geranium - SNAP!
This is a full list of products that went into our crazy colourful and wonderfully colourful and scented hand soak:
-1 x Secret Garden Bath Bomb
-Honey I washed the kids Shower Gel
-Turkish delight shower smoothie
-Ro's argan body conditioner
-Let the good times roll scrub
Alicia was very detailed at explaining the ingredients of all the products she used whilst giving our arms a very relaxing arm massage at the same time. Did you know that over 20,000 rose petals go into every tub of Ro's Argan Body conditioner, no wonder it smells so beautifully rosey!

After arms were soaked and scrubbed it was time for a massage with Therapy massage bar, this felt incredible! I'd hadn't used the Lush Massage bars before but after that arm massage I am a 100% devoted fan, it was so buttery smooth and left our arms completely moisturised. So as we didn't walk around all day with very slippery arms Alicia powdered us with Vanilla Puff, another new Lush product which I fell in love with, it is a vanilla scented dusting powder which takes away stickiness of moisturisers. No more wrestling my freshly moisturised legs into tight skinny jeans ever again!

This was the perfect Mother's day treat for Mum and I to do together, it was informal fun and we totally zenned-out with our treatments.
If you like the sound of our Mother-Daughter pamper fest then you totally need to know that Lush is available for parties, how cool is that! You and your friends can book a face mask party where you learn how to make your favourite  fresh face mask together, byo a bottle of bubbles and have a blast whipping up your own batch of Cupcake, Cosmetic Warrior, Love Lettuce or Oatifix. I would highly recommend the in store Lush treatment experience, it is a whole lotta fun.

Mother's Day with Estée Lauder and a recipe for the yummiest Peanut Butter Paleo Cookies

Estée Lauder Simple Pleasures Gift Set, Eau de Parfum Spray 30ml and Body Lotion 75ml $85.00 (also contains makeup bag not shown) available on counter and www.esteelauder.com.au until stocks last.

This Sunday marks the 30th Mother's Day I have spent with my gorgeous Mumma, as I've grown older she's only grown wiser and every year I appreciate her so much more than the last.
Mother's Day is a day to spoil all the lovely generous Mums of the world and I'm going to have so much fun spoiling mine. Most Mothers tend to deprive themselves of lifes little luxuries so as to give their children everything they can. A nice fragrance is an indulgence that most Mother's tend to skip buying for themselves, which is why it makes a thoughtful and sweet pressie.
Estée Lauder has released a selection of favourite fragrances and makeup sets for Mother's Day, which are all extremely beautiful and any Mum would be over the moon to receive along with a cup of tea in bed. For me Estée Lauder's fragrance Pleasures is quite a memorable scent, my favourite grade one teacher Mrs Henderson wore it and I remember smelling it when she would put stickers on my spelling tests, I saved money from my first job to buy it for my Grandmother for her birthday and on sunday I will be giving it to my Mum as a thank you for being my greatest inspiration, best friend and putting up with me for the past 30 years.
Estée Lauder Pleasures is a fresh sheer fragrance, floral notes include Jasmine, lilies, Peonies and exotic Baie Rose. I cannot wait to smell it on Mum when she gives me the best hugs in the world.

If you like to spoil your Mum with some sweet baked treats then here is one of my favourite recipes, these cookies are best enjoyed with a cup of milky tea and lovely long chat.

PEANUT-BUTTER PALEO GUILT FREE COOKIES
(very technicial measurments and instructions coming up....NOT!)
3/4 cup Almond meal
1 egg
2 tablespoons of crunchy peanut-butter
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of linseeds
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Sprinkle of cinnamon
Half a handful of sultanas or raisins

1. Mix all ingredients with fork till it forms a very sticky mixture.
2. Using the best tools god gave you, your hands! Roll into ping-pong ball sized pieces.
3. Line a tray with baking paper and arrange your cookie balls in a formation so they don't touch each other.
4. Bake for 12-15mins or till they smell ready!
Happy guilt free baking babes!

Here are a couple of my favourite photos of my beautiful Mother and I, hope you all have a lovely day with your Mother's and if you are not together then celebrate them with their favourite things.

OPI Celebrates THE MUPPETS with a second limted edition collection of nail lacquers.

OPI Celebrates The Muppets, Limited Edition Colours $19.95each, 4 Colour Mini-Pack $24.95, Full-Size Duo Pack $24.95 available from www.davidjones.com.au for all other retail stockists please call 1800 812 663

With the success and frenzy of the first OPI and Muppets collaboration, I was not surprised that a second collection is being released with the sequel ' The Muppets Most Wanted' this April. The first collection created a glitter polish craze with the popularity of 'Rainbow Connection' it was insanely  popular and still sells on eBay for hugely inflated prices, so what is the new 'Rainbow Connection'? Nail trends have moved on since the first collection was released and the multi-coloured glitter trend being been done in every way possible, 2014 is all about the multi dimensional chrome which is on every nail trend hot list right now.
The second Muppets collection gives 3 amazing duo shade chromes, 2 ladylike pastels and 3 glitter polishes, here are is a description of all the colours:
CHROMES:
Miss Piggy's Big Number - Midnight blue chrome
Kermit Me To Speak - Silver mauve duo chrome
Int'l Crime Caper - Opalescent pink based mother of pearl
GLITTERS:
Muppets World Tour - Silver and Pink small fine rounded glitter
Let's Do Anything We Want - Pink and Rose gold chunky glitter with White confetti
Gainging Mole-Mentum- Rose gold and pink chunky un-even glitter
PASTELS:
Chillin' like a Villan - Sheer apricot nude
I Love Applause - Sheer pink nude
I was most excited about 'Miss Piggy's Big Number' because of my obsession with navy blues, it didn't disappoint. It is the consistency of the chrome polish from the OPI x Gwen Stefani  collection only Navy Blue, within 2 coats it was opaque and it had the usual OPI dry time which is around 30mins. It is definitely an on trend nail colour for winter and the update to a flat navy I have been looking for.

Expect lots of #NOTD (nails of the day) posts on the @beautegazette instagram, so make sure you are following.

How amazing was Amy Adams in the first Muppets movie, I cannot wait to see Tina Fey do her thing in the sequel.

BTW I am constantly having a me party, it's the best way to be!
