Beauté Gazette LOVES Mary Kay's new True Dimension Lipsticks

Mary Kay True Dimension Lipsticks $29.00 each available from www.marykay.com.au

The new True Dimension Lipsticks from Mary Kay have totally blown me away and for a lipstick to wow a beauty blogger it must be really something special because as you can imagine I am swimming in all kinds of shades, colours and formula's of lipstick!
Firstly the packaging is extremely satisfying, you push the top in and pull the lipstick out from the bottom so there is no way that this can go rouge at the bottom of your handbag and cause any damage.
The formula is sheer, buildable and very moisturising and gives a sheen to the lips without being glossy - LOVE THAT.
The two orange based colours 'Citrus Flirt' and 'Tangerine Pop' are similar but different enough that I love both. 'Citrus Flirt' is a day time totally neutral office appropriate orange where as 'Tangerine Pop' is a bright pop of colour and looks great with a smokey when on a night out.
'Sassy Fuchia' is a bright blue based pink which is totally up my street, it is a pink lipstick lovers must have! 'Berry a la Mode' is a true plum which has been filling my need for a 90's dark purple lip this winter.
Mary Kay is no longer the direct selling brand of yesteryear, you can totally click to buy on their sassy website! These lipsticks are totally bomb and I am crushing out pretty hard on every colour, and I hope that the colours are expanded so I can add more to my collection.

Rimmel's NEW Lasting Finish Lippies by Kate Moss Review & Swatches

Rimmel's New Lasting Finish By Kate Moss Lipsticks in 29, 32 and 28 $11.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

Rimmel have added 3 more amazing colours to the Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick collection, which pleases me very much indeed. This is my favourite drugstore/affordable lipstick formula, the other colours in the range are amazing check out 62 and 107 for great wine toned reds. The 3 newest colours are trend based, to match with a certain makeup trend/look rather than a stand alone red or nude.
Colour 29 is a very 90's purple toned pink which is really bright and looks great with a very highlighted base and lots of mascara.
Colour 32 is a very 60's peach based nude, teamed with bronzed contouring and a winged liner this lipstick is an update to a beige based nude.
Colour 28 is the ultimate girly pink, it looks amazing topped with lipgloss and is for the girl who loves a classic smokey eye and pink lip.

I am so excited that the Lasting Finish by Kate Collection is being expanded, it has such a broad range of colours and are so easy to wear on the lips with minimal touch ups needed throughout the day and night.

Rimmel Lasting Finish in '32'
I loved this 60's peachy-nude it has enough brightness to it that the colour doesn't wash me out. It looks fab with a gloss over the top for a very Sienna Miller x Talitha Getty vibe. The matte texture did cling to any dry patches on my lips so be sure to exfoliate your lips before applying this baby. This would also look phenomenal on tanned and asian skin toned ladies.

Rimmel Lasting Finish '28'
Hello dolly! This is a very pretty pastel pink with a slight opalescent sheen, it is incredibly dolly pink and is something I normally steer away from but as you can see from the above photo I went all out and paired it with big lashes and braids for a very girly look. FYI: I got carded/asked for I.D at a bar the day I wore this, which is a big fat YES! So this lipstick is anti-ager too. I am 30 BTW.

Rimmel Lasting Finish in '29'
This is the total banger of the new colours! It is amazing and I haven't stopped wearing it! The colour is a slightly more magenta based dupe of MAC's Rebel which is one of my all time favourite lipsticks . The finish is more satin than the others and sits very comfortably on your lips, it has a less staying power but is also less drying. This is my go-to winter lip look, love it with prints and plains as a point of difference from red lips.

BEAUTY YEAR BOOK : Best Beauty Products of 2013 : Makeup Round up!

MAKE UP!

BASE PRODUCTS:

Foundation:
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation $32.00 & Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation $105.00
2013 was all about discovering gel formula foundations for me, they melt into my naturally oily skin and don't separate like a more standard creamy foundation would. I love how they act like a second skin and not a mask. Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum is an amazing foundation which is gives a light veil to the skin and is also very affordable considering how comparable it is to very high end brands of foundation. I have repurchased Healthy Mix maybe 3 times over 2013 and still love it to bits. When I used  Chantecaille Future Skin for the first time it was like discovering foundation all over again, it adapted to my skin and helped to control excess oil which blew my freakin' mind! It is a heavy coverage foundation and it encourages me to apply it correctly with a buffing brush and not my regular slap and dash job with my fingers. This is a foundation for lovers foundation, it's hefty price tag is going to be totally off putting to the majority of people but if you are interested in trying makeup formulated with skincare properties I would totally recommend it, super luxe and super science going hand in hand.
Bourjois available from www.priceline.com.au
Chantecaille available from www.meccacosmetica.com.au

Concealer:
Mac Mineralize Concealer $38.00
This is ultra blendable and versatile, covering dark circles and spots like a pro! It has covered up the remnants of many hangovers over 2013 and for that I am forever grateful! Thanks Mac!
Available from www.maccosmetics.com.au

Powder:
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder $12.95
I am not the biggest fan of powder but if I had to choose one it would be Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder on the rare occasion in the dead of winter when I can attempt a matte finish to my dewy (oily) skin this is what I reached for.
Available from www.priceline.com.au

BB Cream:
Garnier BB Cream $13.99
Is the BB craze over yet? Please say yes. All I am going to say is I liked this Garnier BB Cream, the packaging is crap and it leaks everywhere.
Available from www.priceline.com.au

BRUSHES:

Real Techniques $10.95 - $39.95
All of them! Love them!
Available from www.priceline.com.au

Becca 'One Perfecting Brush' $65.00
This is the ultimate blending blush, after dabbing foundation on my face I use this Becca brush to blend it. The width of the brush allows a seamless finish able to blend foundation down your neck and over large areas.
Available from www.beccacosmetics.com.au

EYES:
Mascara
Maybelline 'The Falsies' $19.95
When it comes to lashes, the bigger the better I say! The Falsies coats every lash, lengthening and thickening, it doesn't give you panda eyes throughout the day. I have bought about 4 tubes this year and I will continue to buy it because nothing else has compared.
Available from www.priceline.com.au

Cream Eye Shadow
Maybelline 'Colour Tattoo' Bad to the Bronze. $11.95
2013 is the year I started to experiment with eye shadows, I really had no idea what I was doing. Colours in the crease, outer 'V' ?!? Say What?!? The Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'Bad To The Bronze' does it all, you can apply it with your fingers and it gives the illusion that you have gone to a lot of effort. I don't know when this pot is going to end but it has been going strong for about 7 months and it only has a tiny dent in the product.
Available from www.priceline.com.au

Eyeliner
Rimmel 'Scandal Eyes' Liners $9.95
This is the creamiest and most pigmented eyeliner I have ever used, it glides onto your lids or waterline with ease and precision. I like to use the bronze liner blended out onto my lid as a subtle and pretty shadow, also lining my waterline makes the blue in my eyes pop - usually they are a merky greyish blue.
Available from www.priceline.com.au

Powder Shadow
The Balm 'Over Shadow' in 'You buy, I'll Fly' $22.95
Loose shadows freak me out, I am absolutely terrified about spilling them and they are so tricky to apply because of the fall out. The Balm's Over Shadow's are very shimmery pretty and pigmented shadows which give that Studio 54 glossy shadow effect to the lid. I love 'em!
Available from www.davidjones.com.au

CHEEKS:
Bronzer:
The Body Shops 'Honey Bronzing Powder' in shade 1 $28.95
Being very fair skinned  - bronzer is a new thing to me, finding the right shade that doesn't resemble mud on my pale skin is really difficult. The Body Shop's Honey Bronzing Powder in shade 1 is dark enough to give the illusion of cheek bones and light enough that it doesn't look at all obvious and fake.
Available from www.thebodyshop.com.au

Blush:
Topshop Cream Blush in 'Neon Rose' $15.95
During 2013 blush was my number 1 splurge item, I got me some Tom Ford, some Burberry, some Chanel and you know what was my favourite? Topshop's cheap as chips cream blush in 'Neon Rose' it gives pale girls that Snow White flush of colour to your cheeks like you have just been for a stroll in the snow of laughed at a very rude joke.
Available from www.topshop.com

Highlighter:
Becca Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal $60.00
Ohhhhh baby! Becca's Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector is a beauty! I was sent this to review and fell in love....then I dropped it and it completely shattered, devastating. It was my first ever smashed powder that I repaired with alcohol, you can read my step-by-step post HERE. This product is a Victoria's Secret model glow in a compact, it gives you cheek bones and a halo.
Available from www.beccacosmetics.com.au

LIPS:

Lipstick:
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in colours 60 and 107 $11.95
It was all about a red lip in 2013, from bright pink based raspberry reds (colour 60) to dark wine plum red (number 107). Rimmel's Lasting Finish by Kate Moss have been my absolute go to lippies this year the formula is creamy and easily applied and sets to a semi matte finish which has great lasting power.
Available from www.priceline.com.au

Lipgloss:
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in 'Fuschia' $50.00
2013 was the year of the Lip Stain, every brand was labelling new lip products 'stains' some did stain your lips and some were just terrible. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stains were a revolutionary formula which is applied like a lipgloss and felt like a jelly on your lips and set to a glossy highly pigmented lip look, the gloss does wear off fairly quickly but your lips are completely stained with colour. YSL's packaging is pretty and posh, these were definitely a handbag essential for 2013.
Available from www.davidjones.com.au

Lip Balm:
Uriage Bariéderm Lévres $19.99
Uriage is my favourite french skincare range, every product is calming and soothing for irritated skin.
I have never been that girl who is constantly re-applying lip balm all day, for me I apply a thick layer of lip balm right before I go to sleep so my lips stay hydrated while I sleep. Scent, texture and taste is not what I look for in a lip balm, I love a balm which is repairing and moisturizing which is exactly what the  Uriage balm does.
Available from www.priceline.com.au

Beauté Gazette's FRIDAY LIPSTICK JAM! Featuring CoverGirl + Phoenix + Blood Orange

CoverGirl's Lip Perfection Lipstick in 'Spellbound' $14.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

CoverGirl's Lip Perfection lipsticks are extremely underrated, I have hardly read anything about them on beauty blogs at all except that it is Taylor Swift's favourite lipstick. The formula is really easy to apply, not dragging or clinging to your lips even though it is quite thick and opaque once applied. The satin finish is really pretty and refreshing after the bombardment of matte lipsticks on the market. This is a good all rounder lipstick lasting well, doesn't dry out your lips and the colour is flawless and even across the whole lip. Spellbound is a flat-out blue based fuchsia with zero shimmer, it has a slightly 80's vibe which I am really into.

The Jam! Phoenix are a french band who make the most brilliant pop songs which I have had the best time dancing to for almost 10 years, 'If I ever feel better' reminds me of some of the best dance floor moments with my friend Hana. Blood Orange have remixed 'Entertainment' and I love it! It has been on every play list I have made for the past 2 months and I am not even close to getting over it.

HAVE A BODACIOUS FRIDAY BABES!

LIPSTICK Jam : CK One Color Pure Shine Lipstick in 110 Twisted + Snoop Dogg feat. Robyn 'Sexual Eruption'

CK One Color Pure Shine Lipstick in 110 'Twisted' $35.00 available from www.myer.com.au

Welcome to Beauté Gazette's Lipstick Jam! Where lipstick and music come to party on a friday.
Today I am totally jammin' with CK One Colour Pure Shine Lipstick in 110 'Twisted', this is the perfect sheer bright fuchsia. It is so simple to apply gliding on like a lip balm, but I would advise to give your lips a little exfoliation first because it can cling to any dry patches. The colour pay off is buildable, one layer is a sheer pop of colour, 2 to 3 coats gives quite a opaque lip but the glossy finish tones it down a little. I love this formula for an on the go handbag lipstick, no mirror needed when applying and it wont stain your lips through the day giving you that dreaded lip liner look of wearing off lippy.

Now for the jam........ It's the Friday of the long weekend and I wanted to pick a song which will get me in the mood for the next three days of dancing, sun, BBQ's, beach time and girlfriend hang outs. Snoop Dogg featuring Robyn 'Sexual Eruption' is a cheeky jam with an excellent bass line and auto-tune vibe! Hope you all have a great long weekend full of fun times and lipstick!

Red Lipstick Love : Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Velvet Matte Lipsticks

Wearing: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Velvet Matte Finish in Shade 107

Sometimes all you need is red lipstick to take your mood or your outfit up a notch - try it! Trust me it makes a huge difference even if you are just wearing yoga pants you will totally feel put together and a bit posh. I have been loving the new line of velvet matte shades in the Lasting Finish range by Kate Moss for Rimmel, the originals are a fave too but the new colours are totally amazing and perfect for the cooler weather. Applying with a creamy texture and matting down after about 2-3 mins they don't cling or drag when applying like some other matte lipsticks. (I am looking at you Lady Danger from Mac!) But if you do have flaky or dry lips I would recommend using a lip scrub before using any lipsticks to give a cleaner even look getting rid of any dead skin. If you want to achieve a sheer look with these lippies apply a lip balm first and gently dab the lipstick onto your lips blending out with your fingers. These lippies have serious staying power and will only need to be touched up slightly after drinking or eating, but don't dry out your lips at all.

SHADES:
107 : Kate Moss is wearing this shade in the ads, so how could you not want to try it. It is a burgandy red with a raspberry undertone and a small amount of brown . Applying lightly or one coat give a raspberry tone to the lips but this lipstick looks best with 3 coats to bring out the deep burgendy wine tones.
106: Is a deep blue-based fuschia pink and is very comparable to Mac's 'Girl About Town' but the matte finish gives it a winter twist. This colour really pops on pale skin and because it is a blue based pink it does give teeth a whiter appearence.
103: A very pretty dusty rose slightly mauve colour which lasts forever, it is a very safe colour perfect to wear to work or somewhere more conservative. These colours often scare me because they are quite mumsey but the matte finish gives it a more 60's lip look, very Nancy Sinartra.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipsticks $12.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

Rimmel has also just launched APOCALIPS in Australia, check out my review HERE! for more info and swatches.....I love them!

Yves Saint Laurent: Glossy Stains

OBSESSION ALERT! YSL's new Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stains will be coming with me everywhere I go from now on. Lip glosses have taken a back seat in the makeup routines of my 20's but there was a time around 2003 when I was never without a Juicy Tube or Dazzle Glass in my porchette. The Glossy Stain's formula is part gloss in initial application and appearance then it settles into the lips as a creamy stain.
When applying the product with it's doe foot applicator it is a little difficult to get used to, it would be great if you had really big lips but my petite lips weren't as easy to coat - slightly messy and you have to move fast if you make a mistake because it will stain skin very quickly. One coat gives a nice glossy look to the lips with slight colour, but this product is designed to be build-able, so load it on to the intensity you want and let it set for about 20mins.
Apprehensive that they wouldn't actually stain my lips I put them to the biggest test : BURGERS. Could the YSL Glossy Stain keep my lips shinny and still pigmented when faced with a burger with the lot? YES! YES it did! The product is slightly sticky and does transfer onto cups and would be a nightmare in a heavy make out session.
The packaging is divine like all Yves Saint Laurent makeup, at 28 I feel YSL's Glossy Stains seem like an appropriate lip gloss of choice they aren't the shimmer packed babydoll pinks of my previous lip glosses but colour rich and very luxe.

FAVORITE COLOURS:
01 Plum : Vampy poppy purple that looks amazing on very pale skins and also on women of colour.
08 Orange : This is a true orange not a coral posing as an orange, beautiful for south east asian skintones.
12 Pink Coral: I have this on in the above photo, a sweet pink based coral which gives your lips a wash of colour - this is as nude as I go so I would wear this if I did a darker eye for night.

Rimmel : Lasting Finish By Kate Lipsticks

I'm no lippy snob, I do like a higher end cosmetic in general but that's usually because the packaging suckers me in. When seeing the Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate lippies in Kmart a couple of months ago I was blown away by the formula, it reminded me of the Mac Pro LongWear LipCremes. Applying they aren't the easiest, this isn't the type of lipstick you can pop on without mirror on the bus or through the cleavage Molly Ringwald styles in The Breakfast club. When buying a lipstick from a lower priced brand I do not expect miracles, I purely buy based on if I like the colour or if the advertising has really penetrated into deep parts of my brain. (Hello L'oreal Caress and Revlon Lipbutters  - I WANT EVERY SHADE!)
So when trialing these out at home I quickly realised that if I wanted to commit to these as a long lasting all day colour that there needed to be some prep : a good lipscrub Lush Mint Julips $9.95 is a goodie, to get rid of any flakey skin and the follow up with a thick layer of lip balm which I wipe off before lipstick application.
Firstly apply a one coat of colour from the bullet to your lips it wont look neat, next push the product into your lips so it is blended out into all corners with your finger leave to set for about 10mins, Finally go in with the product on a lip brush to neaten up edges and deepen the colour. This should last till about your second tea/coffee of a morning or your 3rd cocktail at night, but then throughout the day/night I would reapply - with a mirror every so often.

Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate # 14 : A very mauvey-blue toned nude, if you have overly pigmented natural lips (Lucky cows!) then you will need to mute out your lips with concealer to get the full effect of this colour. Its a great nude if you have a tan or are down playing your lips with a dramatic eye.

Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate # 12: Hello Tropicana coral! I love this colour! Its an orange based red coral, it has no traces of pink. So if you like Mac's Morange - this is like its little sister you can wear in the daytime.

Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate #60: Blue based Raspberry full coverage colour, it makes your teeth look whiter because of the blue base - TIP! This colour is really great if you want a polished look with a bright lip, its more serious and grown up than a bright red and looks great with gold washed eye and cheek.

These lipsticks are a cheap thrill ranging from $6.00 on offer at Kmart to $13.00 full price they aren't going to break your budget. My only drawback for them is that they are a bit tedious to apply for even the most experienced lipstick lover - you do need to take your time and not freak out if it smudges. If you are going out straight from work for a drink and need to pick up a bright lippy on your way then these are your babes.

Lancome - Rouge in Love Collection

Lancome's new Rouge in Love lipstick collection launched a couple of months ago with Emma Watson as the face of the campaign. To be honest as much as I love Harry Potter the advertising didn't sucker me in all that much. It was seeing the colours and texture in Myer up close, originally I was really wanting to get my greedy mitts on 322M-Corail in Love but it was sold out. Then swatching almost all the colours up my arms I realised that I need another coral lipstick like I need a whole in the head and with a 6 hour wear time I would prefer a raspberry. That's when I found 377N- Midnight Rose in the Boudoir Time series, this colour is so beautiful and intense. The application process took me a little while to perfect, I start by doing a light layer and rubbing it in with my finger to coat my lips like a balm. Next I apply 3 layers using the lipstick bullet straight on my lips and let it dry for a few minutes inbetween layers. You can feel the texture changing from a balm to a matte on the lips which is something completely new to me - usually a matte is a matte and you need to balm your lips pre application - Rouge in Love's formula is completely a new way of wearing and applying matte lipsticks. On a night out Midnight Rose does stay put the whole night with eating and drinking, you may need to reapply once or twice but the pigmentation from the original application process is still there.
So by this stage I had already fallen completely 'in love' with 377N-Midnight Rose it was my new 'Girl about town' this lipstick was coming out with me to every party and dancefloor in town! Curious of the less intense more glossy/stain colours which are in the Tonight is my Night series, I picked up colour 159B, it applies really glossy but settles into the lips after a few minutes as a stain. It's really a pretty easy to wear bright pink which is buildable but deffinately not to the opacity as the Boudoir series.
These lipsticks are brilliant and are perfect for winter being so hydrating, the only downside is the price $45.00AUD / 4.2ml - Is any lipsticks worth $45.00? Also with the Rouge in Love range selling for $25.00 / 4.2ml in the US being an Australian Customer you feel a little taken advantage of. It will just also make shopping from US sites a more ecconmical option for most people. But shout out to my girl Susan at the Lancome Counter in Myer Sydney City - she is the best and helped match me up to these colours. I would completely reccomend getting your hands on these lipsticks whichever way you go about it.
Check out what Lancome says about this new lipstick collection on the US website HERE.
