'It's all coming up Roses' - Roses De Chloé EDT Fragrance Review

Roses De Chloé 30ml $80 /  50ml  $100  / 75ml $140 available from www.davidjones.com.au

Chloé girls are the epitome of feminine french girl cool, with the most perfectly relaxed tousled hair, only a touch of makeup and usually dressed in the divine cotton lace. With every new Chloé fragrance launched I dream of being as angelic looking as the models in the campaign. Roses de Chloé is the new scent from Chloé which feels like a sister to L'eau De Chloé and the original Chloé EDP meaning the scent still feels very familiar but is slightly more simplistic and uncomplicated with an added floral freshness.
Original key notes of Amber and Cedar Wood take a lower tone with the scent becoming floral focused with a soft  bouquet of Damasena Rose and Magnolia leading the notes. Bringing a new youthful take on the very traditional use of Rose in fragrance, refreshing and young but still true to Chloé's rich signature femininity.
Whilst wearing Roses De Chloé for the first time I received no less than 6 compliments, which are always nice to hear 'Nella you smell so pretty' 'Babes what is your new perfume, it's so you' 'What are you wearing? It's so fresh'. Wearing a Roses De Chloé made me feel girly and pretty, the fragrance rests on your skin and is considerate not feeling too heavy or lingering. Wearing it I wished my hair was as perfectly whispy and tousled like Caroline Brasch, Tilda Lindstam and Esther Heech photographed by Fabien Baron for the beautiful campaign accompanying the fragrance.

Christmas Gift Guide : B.F.F (Best Friend Forever!)

What to get your Bestie for Christmas can be tricky, probably because she is your shopping partner/enabler most of the time, so trying to sneak something past her at the check out is nearly impossible. That's why all of the gift suggestions below are available to buy online and even better are under $100!!!

Jurlique Essence of Rose Roller Ball 11ml $28.00
Available from www.jurlique.com
Jurlique's Essence of Rose Roller Ball is a very classic, pure scent encased in an extremely convenient roller ball applicator - perfect to pop in your hand bag. Applying fragrance from a roller ball to your pulse points, feels more intense and lasts a lot longer than a spritz from a spray bottle. Rose is making a resurgence on the fragrance scene at the moment, a throw back to sophisticated and clean traditional scents with a single crisp note. If your bestie is perfume obsessed this is a cute new take on a classic she will totally love.

ASOS iPhone 5 Case with Oversized Crystals $22.18

Grown Alchemist has released some amazing bang-for-your-buck gift sets my favourite is the 'Intensive Hand Cream in Persian Rose and Argan Extract & Intensive Body Cream Rose Damascena Acai and Pomegrante' combo which is all wrapped up with a chic black satin ribbon. Also a great gift idea that wont break your bank for anyone who is obsessed with chic skin care that usually costs more than half your weekly rent.

MAKEUP MAGIC : How to fix a smashed powder compact.

Have you ever smashed your favourite powder? This happened to my holy grail highlighter last week. Poor Becca Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal, I was totally devastated. But not to worry, here is a simple DIY remedy to fix even the most smashed up of powders.

1. Smash one of your favourite powders.... Not on purpose.

2. Using a knife carefully break up the powder even more using a gentle squashing motions until the powder is finely chopped up.

3. This is the powder consistency you are looking for.

4. Add 3/4 of a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol to the powder.

5. Mix mix mix and blend until the powder turns into a cream, scrape and mould the cream into the shape of your compact.

6. Clean up the edges of your compact with a cotton bud and makeup wipes. Leave in a cool dry place for 2 days until dry.

Voila! Your powder is ready to go once again!

Products inspired by the sliver screen feat. Blue Crush, Frances Ha, Mermaids and Daria

Toni & Guy Sea Salt Texturizing Spray $15.99 available from www.priceline.com.au, Model Co Gradual Tan $14.95 available from www.modelcocosmetics.com,  Dermalogica Protection 50 Sport $45.00 available from www.dermalogica.com.au (available December 1st)

Blue Crush was one of those movies that immediately after watching it, made you want to learn to surf stat! Also start doing soft sand running to get Kate Bossie's amazing bum. The babes in Blue Crush were super tanned but never burnt which means they would have definitely used a good sunscreen like Dermalogica's newie Protection 50 Sport. They would have topped up their tans with a daily moisturising gradual tan for sure and every beach babe knows the importance of a generous spritz of Toni & Guy's Sea Salt Texturizing Spray to get that post swim beach texture even if you haven't been near the surf.

Make Up Store Cake Eyeliner in Black $32.00 available from www.makeupstore.se, Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Terre De Feu $40.00 available from www.meccacosmetica.com.au, Chapstick Classic $4.69 available from www.priceline.com.au

Daria was the flat line 90's saviour of teen-toon culture, she saved me from a saturation of fluffy pink Baby Spice hair accessories and blow up furniture. Daria would have totally loved some matte black liner all the way around the eye and waterline smudged a little influenced by any Fiona Apple video clip, my favourite is The Make Up Store's cake liner in Black because it is really really black. The next pick is a shout out to Jane who was constantly wearing the most perfect brown based dark red lipstick, even though it was just a cartoon I am going to use some creative licence here and bet it was a matte, and probably everything Nars's Terre De Feu is and more. Chapstick Classic is the perfect pocket lipbalm for any nonchalant 'alt' teen, right?

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara $15.95 available from www.priceline.com.au, Dr Bronner's Magic Soap in Peppermint $3.20 available from www.lateralfood.com Rosebud Salve $12.95 available from www.adorebeauty.com.au
Frances Ha was my favourite movie of 2013....I have seen it 4 times now, that's all. Frances is hopelessly lovable and perfectly useless and all I wanted to know is what was in her beaten up back pack, so I guessed. She would totally have loved a mascara but not a fussy one, Maybelline's Great Lash is the perfect mascara for non fussy lashes. Frances is constantly moving apartment so a mini Dr Bronner's Peppermint soap seems like it would be a back pack essential for her. If you haven't seen the movie *SPOILER ALERT* she goes to Paris and with not much money at all but she would have totally picked up a posh lip balm like Smith's Rosebud Salve from Galeries Lafayette.
Clinique Superpowder Double Face Powder $50.00 available from www.clinique.com.au, Estee Lauder Hydra Luster Lipstick in Rich Red $42.00 available from www.esteelauder.com.au, Rimmel Gel Eye Liner in Blackest Black $12.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

Charlotte Flax lost her virginity in the bell tower of a nunnery drunk whilst her sister almost drowned in a stream...heavy 90's cinema. My favourite thing about Mermaids was the 90's interpretation of 60's make up. There was zero dewiness on the skin, it was all about a overly powdered matte finish, Clinique's iconic jade powder compact is a perfect 90's/60's match. The scene when Charlotte is putting on her mother's makeup on, smearing lipstick on it is from gold bullet and totallly Estee Lauder's signature packaging. A cat flicked eye perfected Charlotte's makeup, Rimmel's gel liner is a super easy formula to use and the brush on top of the pot is perfect to apply the product. Mermaid's was iconic for me, it was on repeat every school holiday and I wanted my Mum to be as cool as Cher, disappointed in my stable family and that I didn't live near a nunnery and Michael Schoeffling didn't drive the school bus.

TOTALLY OBSESSED WITH: The Birks, Red Lips, Clear Skin & Good Oils

I was reading Tavi's Rookie Year Book at the hairdressers yesterday and I was transfixed on an interview with the pop-conic film maker John Waters, in which is explained how important 'obsessions' are. Things, people, moments, movies and songs that for a moment in your life you cannot live without, obsessions pass which makes the time that you are obsessed all the stronger and more powerful. So here a four items which I am currently totally obsessed with:

Birkenstock 'Arizona' $129.00 are available from www.birkenstock.com.au
also from this eBay seller direct from Germany and are a lot cheaper!
Yep those are my feet...cue the creepy foot fetishest's emails rolling in!
Yes I too caved to the trend and had to buy myself a pair of white Birkenstocks after reading the first issue of Australian Elle and 'Capture The Castle' by the amazing Hannah-Rose Yee. These puppies have been ruling my world, no hippy feet for me though I keep my toes permanently painted a varied degree of reds, shout outs to Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in Tickle me Pink which is on my toes in the above photo.
The Birks go with absolutely every outfit, so if you are freaked out and are a little sceptical of this 90's trend coming back......Chill out man an just go with the laid back Birko flow.
Rimmel Apocoalips in Big Bang $15.95 available from www.priceline.com.au
I have taken on a new approach to having fun by just saying 'YES' Do you want to go to a party?'YES' Do you want to go and see a weird band play? 'YES' Should we get an afternoon cocktail? 'YES' It means I never really know where I might end up so I having a bright red lipstick in my handbag is essential to transform from day to night or even to apply during the day to liven up my mood. Rimmel Apocalips in Big Bang is my new go to red, it is easy to apply, long wearing and gives that red lip wow factor in seconds.

John Plunkett Essentials Glyco Peel $28.95 available from www.plunketts.com.au
During summer any pigmentation or discolouration on my skin from clearing blemishes or sun spots come up in a big way and are very noticeable. Without going to extremes and having light therapy on them, I have found a quick fix in Plunkets Glyco Peel which contains 25% Glycolic Acid (a chemical exfoliant) using it as a mask twice a week, it has removed any dead skin cells clinging to old blemishes which are usually what is making them noticeable and discoloured. I am obsessed with this product, the way it tingles on my skin makes me feel like 'shit this stuff is actually doing something'.
Blackmores Fish Oil 1000 Capsules $28.89 for 400 available from www.priceline.com.au
Fish oil contains two main types of omega-3 fatty acids: docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). DHA keeps the brain functioning properly. And EPA greatly benefits skin by regulating oil production to boost hydration and prevent acne, and by delaying the skins ageing process to stave off wrinkles. Also EPA can help block the release of the UV-induced enzymes that eat away at our collagen, causing lines and sagging skin. Because EPA is both an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory agent, it can protect against sun damage and help repair it. And Alexa Chung has apparently confessed that Fish Oil is a daily vitamin of choice. OBSESSED!

Dermalogica's Skin Smoothing Cream Limited Edition Holiday Pack

Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream Set $71.00 available from www.dermalogica.com.au and Dermalogica Counters.

Skin Smoothing Cream Set: Skin Smoothing Cream Moisturiser (full size), Pre Cleanse (sample) Special Cleansing Gel (Sample)

It's that time of the year when everything is slowing down and everyone is planning their summer getaways. Travelling with full sized skin care is crazy annoying, lugging around heavy bulky containers of half used moisturisers and cleansers which are take up valuable room in your suitcase which could be used for an extra pair of shoes! I usually take the opportunity to use up sample sized products which have been clogging up my draws all year being saved for a 'big trip'. But usually when I take samples away my skin freaks out and I have a massive break out due to using 5ml of different moisturisers each day.
This is why I have been loving Dermalogica's new limited edition holiday sets, which include one full size product and 2 generous trial sized samples. There are 3 sets to choose from which are all targeted to different skin types. Skin Smoothing Cream set for dry and dehydrated skin, Active Moist for over oily active skin and Super Rich Repair for age repair.
I have been trying out the Skin Smoothing Cream Set whilst on a quick 3 day trip this week, and it has been perfect to travel with. The Skin Smoothing Moisturiser is light and refreshing on my skin with lots of healing and soothing ingredients like aloe, grape seed extract and vitamins A,C and E. The sample sizes of the Pre Cleanse and Special Cleansing Gel are the perfect holiday cleansing routine which will remove even the most waterproof mascara.
If you are like me and are prone to over packing and lugging around unnecessary skin care then I highly recommend picking up one of the Dermalogica Holiday Sets, and considering a full size 100ml Skin Smoothing Moisturiser is $71.00 you are getting the trial size Pre Cleanse and Special Gel Cleanser for free!

Beauty Sleep! Lancome Renergie Nuit Multi-Lift Night Cream Review

Lancome Rénergie Nuit Multi-Lift $145.00 available from www.davidjones.com.au

Night creams are usually the wallet clincher in every woman's skin care routine, big price tags for very small pots of cream promising face lifts overnight. But are they really worth it?
Usually a night cream will contain a more concentrated formula with higher amounts of the active ingredients which promote moisture and skin plumping, so they will generally hold a higher price tag because of the ingredients. Or just because they are like the prada of skin care.
Lancome's Rénergie Nuit Multi-Lift is the first luxury night cream I have ever used, usually one for some rose hip oil or a natural serum. When I think about Lancome night creams it conjures up very mumsy thoughts, and I have to admit the smell of this cream is a really full on powdery floral mum scent.

So here is what Lancome promises Renergie Nuit Multi Lift will do to your skin and how I have found using it:
- Unique firming and anti-wrinkle effect helps visibly smooth and plump skin
My wrinkles are still there, but my skin does feel plumper and more firm.

- Decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while improving skin’s firmness
Is it just me or is this the same as the first line but just worded slightly differently hmmmm, yes my skin is firmer.

- Overnight, surface cell renewal is accelerated so skin looks reenergised and well rested
It depends, if I apply this cream and then have had 8 hours of good sleep then I wake up and look freaking amazing, glowing. But if i apply the cream at 2am after working for 14 hours and have a shitty sleep and wake up at 10am I look terrible. So yes if you use this cream and sleep 8 hours and exercise and eat right you will have beautiful skin, but like women this is a rare occurrence for me.

- Over time, skin is visibly tighter, smoother and younger looking
SHUT UP LANCOME! AND THE REST OF THE SKIN CARE INDUSTRY THAT IS CLAIMING 'YOUNGER' SKIN! WE DO NOT WANT YOUNGER SKIN!
I want to have the best possible skin that I can have as a 29 year old, I am happy having 29 year old skin on my face and I would look pretty stupid with 12 year old skin on my face. My skin does feel smoother though, it's actually very soft and feels hydrated without leaving a gross film on my face that goes all over my pillowcases.

Does it work? Yes, it does work. It hasn't removed my wrinkles but it hydrates my skin plumping it up and leaving it very soft. I hate the smell of it, its very old fashioned and highly fragranced and I would not recommend this to anyone with active breakouts on your face. But if you have a spare $145 to spend on a night cream and are into a little luxury skin care then I would totally recommnend Rénergie Nuit Multi-Lift.

Beauté Gazette LOVES Kosmea Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil

Kosema Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil $24.95 available from www.kosmea.com.au

Ever since Miranda Kerr blurted out her love for Rose Hip Oil it seems as if everyone has gone gaga over it, with women applying it overnight expecting to wake up with that Victoria Secrets glow. But with all skin care it does take time for your skin to adjust to using it and to really see the benefits of using a product.
Kosmea Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil is my absolute favourite, the story behind the brand and the quality of the product is why I would pick it over other brands on the market. The standard way to use Rose Hip Oil is to apply 2 - 3 drops at night as a treatment and 2 - 3 drops in the morning as a moisturiser BUT I have been using it in a few new ways:

- Mixing a few drops in with my foundation, it sheers out the coverage beautifully and makes the foundation glide onto the skin with fingers. Skip the highlighter babes, you will be naturally glowing.

- Adding a few drops to my body moisturiser to help any scars or abrasions heal.

- I am pretty much certain that Rose Hip Oil cleared up ingrown hairs on my bikini line.

- It is an amazing cuticle oil!

- Adding a few drops to a face mask, to boost hydration.

- To remove your eye makeup, especially liquid liners and waterproof mascaras. A few drops on your finger tips and gently massage your eyelids and makeup will lift away so easily.

I love a multi-purpose product and Rose Hip Oil it does everything and more!
