It's Valentine's Day! So here are my favourite cheese-ball romantic movies and some products to match: Dirty Dancing, The Notebook & Pretty Woman

Dirty Dancing (1987)
Baby's  Beauty Corner: OPI nail polish in 'Bubble Bath' $19.95 available from www.davidjones.com.au, Rimmel Natural Bronzer in 'Sun Bronze' $15.95 available from www.priceline.com.au, Nars Satin Lip Pencil in 'Lodhi' $39.00 available from www.meccacosmetica.com.au

Dirty Dancing is not just a movie it is a religion, I can recite the whole movie from start to finish like it's my bible. My best friend Josephine and I have seen it so many times I cannot even remember but we watch it as regularly as a moderately religious person would go to church.
Baby is style icon, the way she wore those cute peasant blouses and the most perfect high waisted white jeans -  Classic 80's does 60's vibe. Her makeup was all about the perfect holiday tan (Rimmel Natural Bronzer)  with a pastel peach lip to show she blossoming into a woman. I'm sure that Baby's sister Lisa would have painted Baby's nails a colour very similar to OPI's 'Bubble bath' the perfect nude nail for any budding dancer. After every viewing of Dirty Dancing my reaction is always the same: 'Why the heck did Jennifer Grey get a nose job? She was so freakin' adorable'
The Notebook (2004)
Ally's - All Americana classic beauty products: Clinique Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15  $50.00 available from www.clinique.com.au, Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Stick $21.95 available from www.priceline.com.au
My two very essential essentials for watching The Notebook are kleenex and an endless supply of Lindt 85% Dark Chocolate - I can only watch it with these two items within arms reach at all times. Ally and Noah....If you want to get depressed about that one guy that you had a thing with and he moved away and never called again. Do not watch The Notebook. Let me tell you... In real life your Mum isn't hiding his love letters and he isn't off building you the most perfect house in the world!!!
Ally has the all American stunning girl next door beauty thang down, pretty with a hint of seduction. Her skin is perfection, never too shiny due to the compact I'm sure she keeps with her at all times, Clinique powders are my favourite packaging, that jade green plastic has been a staple in my makeup bag since I was 16. Ally's lipstick is a mix between a coral and a red, never leaning too sexy or vampy. Revlon's 'Kiss me Coral' is just this - it gives you a bright lip without the 'trying too hard to be sexy' look.
Ryan Gosling will always be my movie dreamboat Valentine crush, so let's all just watch a Gosling marathon on the 14th and forget about real life!
Pretty Woman (1990)
Vivian from prostitute to posh out products : Covergirl Liquiline Eye Liner in 'Blackfire' $14.95 available from www.priceline.com.au, Benefit Gimme Brow in 'Medium/Deep' $32.00 available from www.adorebeauty.com.au
Who doesn't love Julia Roberts transformation from working girl to uptown fancy lady in Pretty Woman, personally I liked both looks equally. Working girl Julia new how to apply a matte kohl liner like it ain't nobodies business, it was worked into the eye smudged to and blended out around the eye to give extreme definition. Covergirl's Liquiline Eye Liner in 'Blackfire' is super soft and can be applied fuss free using the sponge tip to work it into your lash line. Julia Roberts is the O.G brow queen, her naturally bushy thick brows were always combed into perfect shape, Benefit's newbie Gimme Brow gives your eye brows a tint of colour and sets those bad boys in shape for the day or long long night as Vivian would have been getting ready for.
There is something that is regularly forgotten and I would just like everyone to make mental not of how bangin' Julia Roberts body was in Pretty Woman. Damn Girl! Can we all just give it up for her because honeychild had legs for daaayyyyyyyssss!

For all of you that have a romantic boyfriend who is going to wine and dine you at a fancy restaurant tonight for the ultimate Valentines day experience....BORING! Because this is what me and my girlfriends will be doing, jealous much? Probably not, but you know what how good is FRIENDS!

Products inspired by the sliver screen feat. Blue Crush, Frances Ha, Mermaids and Daria

Toni & Guy Sea Salt Texturizing Spray $15.99 available from www.priceline.com.au, Model Co Gradual Tan $14.95 available from www.modelcocosmetics.com,  Dermalogica Protection 50 Sport $45.00 available from www.dermalogica.com.au (available December 1st)

Blue Crush was one of those movies that immediately after watching it, made you want to learn to surf stat! Also start doing soft sand running to get Kate Bossie's amazing bum. The babes in Blue Crush were super tanned but never burnt which means they would have definitely used a good sunscreen like Dermalogica's newie Protection 50 Sport. They would have topped up their tans with a daily moisturising gradual tan for sure and every beach babe knows the importance of a generous spritz of Toni & Guy's Sea Salt Texturizing Spray to get that post swim beach texture even if you haven't been near the surf.

Make Up Store Cake Eyeliner in Black $32.00 available from www.makeupstore.se, Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Terre De Feu $40.00 available from www.meccacosmetica.com.au, Chapstick Classic $4.69 available from www.priceline.com.au

Daria was the flat line 90's saviour of teen-toon culture, she saved me from a saturation of fluffy pink Baby Spice hair accessories and blow up furniture. Daria would have totally loved some matte black liner all the way around the eye and waterline smudged a little influenced by any Fiona Apple video clip, my favourite is The Make Up Store's cake liner in Black because it is really really black. The next pick is a shout out to Jane who was constantly wearing the most perfect brown based dark red lipstick, even though it was just a cartoon I am going to use some creative licence here and bet it was a matte, and probably everything Nars's Terre De Feu is and more. Chapstick Classic is the perfect pocket lipbalm for any nonchalant 'alt' teen, right?

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara $15.95 available from www.priceline.com.au, Dr Bronner's Magic Soap in Peppermint $3.20 available from www.lateralfood.com Rosebud Salve $12.95 available from www.adorebeauty.com.au
Frances Ha was my favourite movie of 2013....I have seen it 4 times now, that's all. Frances is hopelessly lovable and perfectly useless and all I wanted to know is what was in her beaten up back pack, so I guessed. She would totally have loved a mascara but not a fussy one, Maybelline's Great Lash is the perfect mascara for non fussy lashes. Frances is constantly moving apartment so a mini Dr Bronner's Peppermint soap seems like it would be a back pack essential for her. If you haven't seen the movie *SPOILER ALERT* she goes to Paris and with not much money at all but she would have totally picked up a posh lip balm like Smith's Rosebud Salve from Galeries Lafayette.
Clinique Superpowder Double Face Powder $50.00 available from www.clinique.com.au, Estee Lauder Hydra Luster Lipstick in Rich Red $42.00 available from www.esteelauder.com.au, Rimmel Gel Eye Liner in Blackest Black $12.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

Charlotte Flax lost her virginity in the bell tower of a nunnery drunk whilst her sister almost drowned in a stream...heavy 90's cinema. My favourite thing about Mermaids was the 90's interpretation of 60's make up. There was zero dewiness on the skin, it was all about a overly powdered matte finish, Clinique's iconic jade powder compact is a perfect 90's/60's match. The scene when Charlotte is putting on her mother's makeup on, smearing lipstick on it is from gold bullet and totallly Estee Lauder's signature packaging. A cat flicked eye perfected Charlotte's makeup, Rimmel's gel liner is a super easy formula to use and the brush on top of the pot is perfect to apply the product. Mermaid's was iconic for me, it was on repeat every school holiday and I wanted my Mum to be as cool as Cher, disappointed in my stable family and that I didn't live near a nunnery and Michael Schoeffling didn't drive the school bus.

Light Summer Makeup Base

My skin has been looking particularly good and glowy at the moment -  even if I do say so myself. It is probably to do with the weather being warmer and also being very strict with remembering to apply Rose hip Oil as my night cream.
Not wanting to clog up my newly clear pores I have been experimenting with lighter makeup base routines, here is my current favourite:

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer available from Kit Cosmetics $52.95 available from Kit Cosmetics

Real Techniques Delux Crease Brush $39.90 (part of set)available from Priceline
Stila Perfecting Concealer (Shade 2) $37.00 available from Mecca Cosmetica www.meccacosmetica.com.au

Clinique Air Brush Concealer (Shade 2) $40.00 available from Clinque

Real Techniques Buffing Brush $44.99 (part of set) available from Priceline
The Balm Sexy Mama Anti-Shine Transulsant Powder $25.90 available from David Jones and www.thebalm.com

STEP 1
Apply your day moisturiser with SPF, remember to moisturise your neck and ears.
STEP 2
Using a silicone primer and your fingers apply a small pea size amount over your t-zone where you would normally get shiny or oily through the day and also anywhere your pores are larger and visible - for me this is on my cheeks near my nose.
It will feel very strange almost a velvet-y soft sensation, because I am not using a foundation the primer gives the powder a base to be applied on to. The Smashbox one I am testing out is lovely and I will be purchasing the full size.
STEP 3
Eye brightening is essential for me, having dark circles and visible blue veins around my eye area because I am so pale. There are lots of light brightening / highlighting concealer pens available but for me the Clinique Air Brush Concealer gives slightly more coverage than others like the YSL Touché Eclat which is more of a highlighter - I am also going to try Bare Minerals Stroke of light Eye Brightener next.
When blending the product onto the eye area, I start from the bottom of the darkened area and work upwards going slightly onto the eyelid blending in very light small circular motions with a synthetic fluffy brush.
STEP 4
Spot concealing is essential, this Stila perfecting concealer is going to last the rest of my life because you only need the tiniest pin prick amount of product. Using the same brush as under your eyes blend out the concealer using dabbing circular motions.

STEP 5
At this stage if you are freaking out that you need more coverage you can use a mineral powder like Laura Mercier Mineral powder which will give you more colour and coverage. If you are cool as a cucumber with the coverage and just want to blend and even your skin tone out with a light coverage I like The Balm's Sexy Mama Translucent powder. Using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush load the brush up with powder and push then blend the powder into your skin. Starting from the centre of your face and work outwards.
STEP 6
This is the finished base, it is very quick and easy - great for summer!
Also if you have trouble matching a foundation to your skin tone this is a great alternative to a traditional foundation routine as you wont have a mismatched face and neck.
