Beauté Gazette's FRIDAY LIPSTICK JAM! Featuring CoverGirl + Phoenix + Blood Orange

CoverGirl's Lip Perfection Lipstick in 'Spellbound' $14.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

CoverGirl's Lip Perfection lipsticks are extremely underrated, I have hardly read anything about them on beauty blogs at all except that it is Taylor Swift's favourite lipstick. The formula is really easy to apply, not dragging or clinging to your lips even though it is quite thick and opaque once applied. The satin finish is really pretty and refreshing after the bombardment of matte lipsticks on the market. This is a good all rounder lipstick lasting well, doesn't dry out your lips and the colour is flawless and even across the whole lip. Spellbound is a flat-out blue based fuchsia with zero shimmer, it has a slightly 80's vibe which I am really into.

The Jam! Phoenix are a french band who make the most brilliant pop songs which I have had the best time dancing to for almost 10 years, 'If I ever feel better' reminds me of some of the best dance floor moments with my friend Hana. Blood Orange have remixed 'Entertainment' and I love it! It has been on every play list I have made for the past 2 months and I am not even close to getting over it.

HAVE A BODACIOUS FRIDAY BABES!

Top 3 : Hair Masks feat. Goldwell, Kérastase and Schwarzkopf

If your hair is anything like mine : colour damaged, sun damaged, fine and tangled and prone to breakage then you will know the necessity of a good hair mask to nurse it back to health.
A hair mask or masque if you want to get all fancy about things, needs to tick a few boxes for me to continue to using it:
* The Wash Out : A hair mask needs to be able to be completely rinsed out of your hair and not leave any kind of residue in your hair once it's dried.
* Roots To Tips : You should notice a difference in your hairs texture from the root to the tip.
* Lasting Power : The improvement in your hair should last the duration between mask applications and not just until you wash your hair next.
Here are my Top 3 favourite Hair Masks which have been rescuing my tired locks lately.

Goldwell Blonde & Highlights 60 Sec Treatment $20.95 available from www.hairhousewarehouse.com.au

I love being a blonde even though the 6-8week visits to my colourist drives me crazy, I can't stop and I won't stop being a blonde. Goldwell's 60 Sec Treatments are available across all the formula's but 'Blondes & Highlights' is obvs' my favourite, it is a very thick gluggy mask which I apply in the shower and leave on for the duration of the time it takes to shave my legs. It feels very nourishing to the hair and coats each strand even in my half arsed attempt in rubbing it into my scalp. If I feel my hair is lacking shine or looking a little brassy this is the mask I reach for, when my hair is dry the lighter highlights look glossy and pick up natural light like a freakin' crystal.

Kérastase Resistance Age Recharge Firming Gel-Masque $41.10 available from www.feelunique.com

If you have ever had a bad bleaching or dying experience whether it be at home or at a salon, you know what I mean when I say 'HOLY BREAKAGE HELL' your hair is so weak afterwards and just snaps off. Kérastase is a pretty fancy brand but in my experience if you need a product to do specific thing like strengthen then it is worth paying a little extra knowing it will work. I would advise going into a salon which stocks Kérastase and ask about what products would help your hair. For me it is the Resistance range, the Age Recharge Firming Gel-Masque strengthened my hair back to a normal state. It is a gel formula which needs to be left on the hair for about 1 hour, the best way to apply it is post shampoo pre conditioning, so mid shower get out and apply the mask put a shower cap on and do the vacuuming or watch YouTube for an hour or so and then get back in the shower rinse and condition. The effects of this mask take a while to take effect, and I was patient and used the mask weekly for 2 months,  noticing small changes weekly but by the end of the month...wowzer's hello healthy hair!

Schwarzkopf Ultimate Oil Elixir Treatment $8.99 available from www.priceline.com.au

Ok so confession time when I first tried this mask I was so obsessed with it I used it everyday as a conditioner, is that bad? NO! My hair loves this stuff, it makes your hair super soft and shiny without taking away natural body and texture. Also this is the ultimate de-tangler, if you have fine knotty hair then apply this in the shower and comb through with a wide tooth comb and knots be gone!
It is also affordable and convenient to pick up when you are doing your weekly shop, so if you are looking to try out a mask for the first time then I would totally recommend starting out with this Schwarzkopf beauty.

MANICURE MONDAY : Model Co's Nail Polish in 'Model Co Pink'

Model Co Nail Polish in 'Model Co Pink' $14.95 available from www.modelco.com

Have you ever seen someone wearing a nail polish and just thought 'I need that on my nails...like right now asap!'. Well this happened to me whilst watching Lisa Eldridge's latest YouTube video 'Beauty Nightmares! Solutions from my Pro Kit' she was holding up products and all I could do was stare at her glossy fuchsia nails.
I have no idea what the exact nail polish she was wearing but it made me search through my nail polish collection to find my beloved Model Co polish in 'Model Co Pink'! My perfect bright pink, it is blue based fuchsia with an undetectable slight shimmer which pops on any skin colour. I have a few Model Co Polishes and they are all great, applying to the nails easily without at fuss and drying fairly quickly. I will say they do need a good glossy top coat to protect them and give them some lasting power on your nails.
Because sometimes a girl just needs bright pink nails and a glass of Chardonnay to lift her mood.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion $12.99 available from www.priceline.com

This review could be done in one sentence : This moisturiser doesn't make your legs sticky and you can put on the tightest jeans known to man within seconds of applying!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh it's a miracle! Some genius moisturising inventor over at the Aveeno factory has listened to my prayers and made the perfect moisturiser....It is so gentle and doesn't effect my psoriasis, the oatmeal calms any red patches I may have at the time, and it is fragrance free. I have been using the Daily Moisturising Lotion everyday for the past month on my entire body after getting out of the shower and I think I am only a quarter into the bottle because it spreads out so evenly when you you rub it in.
If you have sensetive skin or you find body moisturisers too sticky the I highly reccomend trying the Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion and compared to alot of the 'derma' type moisturisers it is relatively inexpenssive.
Yay for non sticky summer legs!

MANICURE Monday! Orly Nail Lacquer in 'Pixie Powder'

Orly Nail Lacquer in 'Pixie Powder' $18.95 available from www.orlybeauty.com.au

Orly polishes are one of my favourites, they are so easy to apply and always give a faultless finish no matter what the colour. I decided to go with 'Pixie Powder' from Orly's new Surreal collection, which is the prettiest fine glitter mix and looks like you have dipped your nails into fairy dust. From some angles it gives a translucent gold look to your nails and in direct light it is more of a moonstone pinky-purple. It is the type of polish I would have begged my mum for when I was little, shimmering pretty glittery pinks have always been my weakness and although I don't wear them often they make me so happy when I do.
What's the reason for such ritzy glittery flashy-trashy nails? Oh I am just going to a cocktail party for Jackie Collins at The Star tonight with Theresa from www.theladida.com no big deal....UMMM YES IT IS A MAJOR DEAL!
If you don't know who Joan and Jackie Collins are, well you should get to googling because they are total icons. Hopefully I will able to wrangle a photo with Jackie which would be an incredible instagram WIN.

Friday Lipstick Jam! Nars 'Tzigane' Lipstick and Rimmel Apocalips 'Luna' + Lesley Gore's 'You Don't Own Me'

Rimmel Apocalips in 'Luna' $15.95 available from www.priceline.com.au & Nars Lipstick in 'Tzigane' available from www.meccacosmetica.com.au

Holy crap I am wearing a somewhat peachy-pinky-brown-nudish lipstick and not just one but two! Usually one to shy away from any kind of 'my lips but better' - god I hate that beauty blogging term - because they just wash me out and I look a bit Laura Palmer as is in completely dead and corpsey. But I have found a combo which seems to make me look ok, yes just ok, maybe even moderately sexy?
Firstly I apply this very 90's brown Nars lipstick in 'Tzigane',  I think this colour maybe discontinued but the shade 'Morocco' is very similar if you are at all inclined to want something similar. It makes me feel like I am Phoebe in the first season of friends (this is not a good thing), when worn on its own but with Rimmel Apocalips in 'Luna' layered over the top it becomes a mesh of brownish-peach all over my lips.
The two shades are completely unwearable separately but together - Wowzers something beautiful happens! Has anyone else ever had this lipstick situation? Or am I just trying to justify my lipstick obsession?

Now for the Jam! Lesley Gore first released 'You don't own me' in 1963 and the powerful feminist message of the song is still just as relevant today. With Lena Dunham using it in a PSA for the 2012 Obama campaign highlighting the injustice that women would face with a republican government in the white house. As woman living in a country with an extremely conservative government in power I want to yell 'You don't own me' in the face of our Prime Minister who's views on women's rights are sickening.

Crushed out on: Light Summer Base Products

From left to right: Bare Minerals Stroke of Light $26.95, Mac Mineralize Concealer $38.00, Prevage Anti-Aging targeted skin tone corrector $168.00, Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream $13.99

Coming into summer I have completely changed up my base routine and foundation, scraping heavier products and any kind of powder because it just melts off my face in the hotter months. Here are the products that I have a big fat summer crush on:

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Targeted Skin Tone Corrector $168.00
Available from www.feelunique.com
During summer my skin does this weird mottled redness thing, where any pigmentation or discolouration that I have decides now is the time to just come up and make my skin completely uneven. It is frustrating to say the least and all I want to do is cover it up with layers of foundation, but I have recently started using this fancy tone corrector (I am not typing out that silly long name again!) which has really helped. Any redness is immediately dulled and my skin has a very even look to it, I apply it after my moisturiser as a final skin care step before makeup and it also acts as a very thin veil like primer as well, which is good because I want to get the most out of this very expensive 30ml bottle of skin miracle god juice.

Mac Mineralize Concealer in NW25 $38.00
Available from www.maccosmetics.com.au
This was bought about 4 months ago on a very hungover Sunday morning walking past a MAC counter I caught sight of my blue under eye circles and jumped in horror. NW25 is totally not my shade at all, but it is very orange based so when applying it to any blue dark circles it will cancel them out with the power of contrasting colour!

Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector $13.99
Available from www.priceline.com.au
I had read heaps of reviews about the Garnier BB Cream comparing it to Chanel's Vitalumniere Aqua foundation, and on an impulse shopping whim last week at priceline I popped it into my basket. I am so glad that I did because it is freakin' amazing! It only comes in 2 shades which is complete bullshit - it makes me want to send Garnier a packet of the crayola skin coloured texta's with a note saying 'There are more than 2 shades of skin tone in the world babes!' Anyway if you do match one of the 2 shades available I would highly recommend trying this stuff out, it is extremely comparable to Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua in consistency and application. One application is sheer and it is able to be layered to give fuller coverage but still remains a thin veil on the face without looking or feeling cakey or thick.

Bare Minerals Stroke of Light Eye Highlighter $26.95
The finale of summer base face, is this little gem from Bare Minerals. I apply it under my eyes very liberally, and blend out with fingers. It is the most brightening highlighter I have ever used, making my tired bags disappear like a magic trick. Heads up, this isn't a concealer so it needs to be applied post concealer and foundation if you have dark circles or it will just accentuate them.

Just a Miley space-bun selfie!

MANICURE MONDAY: Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in 'Barracuda'

Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in 'Barracuda' $14.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

Manicure Monday is officially my new favourite day of the week, it has become a little ritual that preps me for my week ahead. Some people iron their clothes for work, I paint my nails!
This week I have a bazillion things to do, but the most exciting thing in my diary is seeing the new Diana film starring 'our' Naomi Watts. To say I have a Princess Diana obsession would be an understatement, have been absolutely desperate to see this film - now I know how those obsessed crazed Harry Potter Fans felt every time a new Potter film came out. When selecting my polish for the week it had to be a blue, obviously to reference Diana's love of sapphires.

'Barracuda' is one of the new limited edition Spring shades from Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure line and its goddamn beautiful! Pastels polishes are known for applying with streaks and can take 3 or more layers to become even but 'Barracuda' is beyond flawless in application opaque and streak free in two coats without welling in your cuticles. The brush is a dream to use with a rounded flat end which fits into the curve of your nail bed giving a very neat finish. If you feel like you are just one of those people who cannot paint your own nails because you turn into a clumsy mess, then I would highly recommend trying out the Complete Salon Manicure line of polishes. 'Barracuda' is a white based pastel baby blue and is a total dupe for Chanel's 'Riva' polish without all the premature chipping.

LIPSTICK Jam : Topshop's 'Sartorial' x The Breeders 'Cannonball'

Topshop Lipstick in 'Sartorial' $17.00 available from www.topshop.com

This week has been shitty. On a scale of 'Best week ever' to 'Shittiest week ever' it is pretty up there.
Lost passport, Mac Book Air spazzed out, boy saying shitty stuff, face looks like a pizza full of pimples, not enough sleep because of some crazy deadlines....Ughhhh it has been a mega doozy of a week.

But you know what makes me feel better? Lipstick and some pre-grunge feminist rock'n'roll.

Let's talk lippy first, Topshop's 'Sartorial' is a true bright coral-tastic blast to your lips. It is like Mac's 'Morange's' little sister, packing the same punch but is just slightly less opaque and having a satin/gloss finish. Topshop lipsticks are a great, they are easy to apply, inexpensive and are just a good time lipstick.

The Breeders 'Cannonball' is one of my favourite songs to listen to at full volume unapologetically and dance around my bedroom to. The video was directed by Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon, which is just about the coolest thing ever.

Manicure MONDAY! New wave clashing glitter.

I have been feeling so wavy lately and so clashing glitter and pastels have been my nail look of choice this week. Instead of placing glitter on the tip or base I decided on a half-moon shape using a tooth pick   to push glitter into place.
'Peach Melba' is the most amazing pastel peach polish which on tanned skin looks completely delicious, my skin is not naturally tanned what so ever but I am faking it with a little gradual tanner. 3 Concepts is a korean brand which is blowing up, they make amazing polishes and cute pop makeup, it is available in Chinatown and online but is for the most part hard to find which makes it all the more special.

3 Concepts Glitter Lacquer $4.95 available from www.stylenanda.com and Kester Black Polish $17.00 available from www.kesterblack.com

LIPSTICK Jam : CK One Color Pure Shine Lipstick in 110 Twisted + Snoop Dogg feat. Robyn 'Sexual Eruption'

CK One Color Pure Shine Lipstick in 110 'Twisted' $35.00 available from www.myer.com.au

Welcome to Beauté Gazette's Lipstick Jam! Where lipstick and music come to party on a friday.
Today I am totally jammin' with CK One Colour Pure Shine Lipstick in 110 'Twisted', this is the perfect sheer bright fuchsia. It is so simple to apply gliding on like a lip balm, but I would advise to give your lips a little exfoliation first because it can cling to any dry patches. The colour pay off is buildable, one layer is a sheer pop of colour, 2 to 3 coats gives quite a opaque lip but the glossy finish tones it down a little. I love this formula for an on the go handbag lipstick, no mirror needed when applying and it wont stain your lips through the day giving you that dreaded lip liner look of wearing off lippy.

Now for the jam........ It's the Friday of the long weekend and I wanted to pick a song which will get me in the mood for the next three days of dancing, sun, BBQ's, beach time and girlfriend hang outs. Snoop Dogg featuring Robyn 'Sexual Eruption' is a cheeky jam with an excellent bass line and auto-tune vibe! Hope you all have a great long weekend full of fun times and lipstick!
