Red Earth 'Facial tanning serum' Review

Red Earth Facial Tanning Serum $40.00 available from www.redearth.com.au

Were you a 90's kid? Do you remember the Red Earth line of make up in Esprit whilst spending all your pocket money at your local mall? Well if you do then you'll be as excited as I was to learn Red Earth is back! The new and improved Red Earth is launching very soon throughout David Jones stores nation wide, but I was lucky enough to try out a few products for review over the past week.
The surprising favourite of the bunch was the Facial Tanning Serum, I am completely obsessed and it has been giving me a faux-glow that has been fooling people I'm back from a tropical island holiday.
Best thing about the serum is that it is scent free, no stench of apricot biscuit that lingers for hours that you get wafts of whilst trying to reply to emails at work. To apply the serum I've been using 3 pumps of the serum onto a cotton pad and lightly sweeping it across my face, neck and ears...do not forget the ears! The best time I have found to apply the serum is when you have a couple of spare hours to be makeup free, Sunday morning house cleaning and laundry time or during my Thursday Real Housewives of Beverly Hills / Scandal Tim-Tams and tea sesh. The tan lasts a couple of days and wears off completely evenly, so don't be scared of having a patchy fake tan nose.
The only thing I'm really annoyed with is that I wish I had this product in my life sooner!

Beauté Gazette LOVES! Revitanail polishes and nail care

Revitanail 3D Top Coat $14.99, Triple Strength colours Black Plum & Marshmellow $14.99 and Nail Strengthener $29.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

It's all to often I hear someone say 'I'm not wearing nail polish because my nails are in bad condition, so I'm just giving them a break' Revitanail is about to change that! Revitanail nail polish and nail care actually helps your nails from flaking whilst you wear it. So no need to go polish free for the sake of your nail health any longer!
I completely swear by the Revitanail Nail Strengthener as a base coat, it protects bare nails from polish staining and polish damaging your nails and dries in seconds.
It's also refreshing to see such a classic line of polish, which will appeal to trend focused nail polish addicts with the darker plum colours as well as classic colour lovers who will love the nudes.
Having nice healthy groomed nails will always be chic, and should never be put into the 'I just don't have time for them' category especially when there are products like Revitanail in the market place. Try it! You and your nails won't regret it.

Available from January 1st 2015 from www.priceline.com.au

Start the countdown John Frieda is bringing back the OG, the trendsetter, the much pined after BEACH BLONDE range. The range was discontinued over a decade ago disappearing off the shelves and has been lusted and longed for ever since. With bottles of the Ocean Waves Salt Spray fetching prices of over $100 on eBay and urban legends of sightings at discount stores....ITTSSSS BACKKKK!
Just in time for a whole new generation ready and eager to try this cult status range. The smell brings back amazing summer memories a mix of mint and coconutty goodness without being too sickly sweet, it makes me feel like I am 16 years old and washing my hair after a day lazing on the beach during school holidays. *Cue the I'm almost 31 now freak out!*
The line has been brought back by a very clever social media campaign from John Frieda in which fans could vote to 'Bring back your favourite Throwback' and Ocean Waves was the hero product that has made a much deserved comeback!
So why was it so love and missed? It was one of the first salt sprays available to the masses at supermarkets and pharmacies, if you are a committed Bumble & Bumble Salt Spray lover then prepare to meet your match at a much more affordable price point.
So if you are like me and love a tousled laid back beachy waves look at all times and not just whilst by the sea then prepare to make room for your new HG comeback product line.

NIP + FAB Glycolic Fix Scrub and Cleanser

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Scrub $21.95 and Cleanser $17.95 available from www.target.com.au

Glycolic acid has long been spoken about as a holy grail ingredient in skin care that will leave your skin 'glowing'. Glycolic Acid is a chemical exfoliant which is often found in masks and peel treatments but NIP + FAB has been cleaver enough to include them in their new Glycolic Fix cleanser and scrub. Using low amounts of the acid it works as a gentle resurfacing exfoliatant rather than if you were to use it in a mask or a peel to take off multiple layers of dead skin. Using them daily makes your skin have a brightened look because any dead skin gathering on old blemishes or flaking will be buffed off gently.

I am 100% addicted to Glycolic acids and love how my skin looks after I've used a mask with them in it, now I am excited to get the bright look on a daily basis! NIP + FAB are definitely worth a try if you are feeling like your skin is looking a little lack luster after winter.

Jurlique's new Nutri-Define range raises the bar in natural luxe skin care.

Jurlique's Nutri-Define Multi-Correcting Day Cream $120.00 and Nutri-Define Superior Retexturising Facial Serum $145.00 available from www.jurlique.com.au

Jurlique is a brand which I know and trust to deliver amazing natural products that contain the créme de la créme of natural ingredients which my skin loves. The new Nutri-Define range is very luxe and on the higher price end for Jurlique because of the type of high potency ingredients that the products contain.

So what is in the Nutri-Define range that makes it so superior?
The range contains BIOSOME5..... Say what babe? Well to put it simply, a product can only work so well on the surface of your skin and to make it work on a deeper level you need an ingredient called a Liposome which acts as a helping hand to make your skin drink up all the skin building ingredients. In most skin care Liposome's are a chemical ingredient which are synthetic and too harsh for your skin, so Jurlique has developed a natural Liposome called BIOSOME5.

Other beautiful natural ingredients found in Nutri-Define:
Cochlearia Armorcia ( Horseradish) grown in the Adelaide Hills with powerful antioxidanct properties, Morus Bombycis Root Extract (Mulberry Root) to brighten skin tone, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Also grown in the Adelaide hills helps skin rejuvinate, Mentha Piperita Extract (Peppermint extract) to improve skin texture and Glycogen for skin firming benefits.

My personal experience when trialling the Nutri-Define range?
I started using the facial serum and daily moisturiser together about 3 weeks ago, my skin has been suffering from the winter blues, dry in patches and also lacking any kind of glow. After a few days I noticed that my skin was feeling plumper, and definitely more hydrated. The first place it was most obviously hydrated was my forehead which at the ripe age of 30 fine lines are appearing (yuck!). It is also where I can tell if my skin is dehydrated because makeup wont apply smoothly it has oily outbursts. The price point of the products is quite high and not in everybodys budgets but if you can afford to splurge on skin care then the Nutri-Define range is absolutely an amazing way to do so. I am going to be very sad when I come the end of these gorgeous little luxe pots of skin care gold.

Aveda's Shampure Composition Calming Oil.....Filling my stressed out week with pure zen!

Aveda  Shampure Composition Aromatic Oil $49.00 available from www.aveda.com.au

Ok I am going to get pretty real right now, because this is a blog, this is not a website or a magazine publication and no one tells me what to write or pays me to write it. One of the reasons I love products is that when something really crap happens in your life for 10mins or an hour you can feel a little better using them.
This week I was lied to, cheated on and totally screwed over by someone I had only cared and held close to my heart, my world came crashing down around me and I felt so awful that I couldn't even get out of bed. I decided after 2 days I needed to get out of bed and drag myself into a bath which I popped about 7 drops of Aveda's Shampure Composition Oil into. I put on some Led Zepplin, particularly 'That's the way' on repeat, its a great break up song. Deep breathing followed, a few tears and then a whole lot of letting go and just chilling out. Maybe it was the organic lavender from Bulgaria or the hand picked Ylang-Ylang from Madagascar? I stayed in the bath till the water turned cold inhaling the calming smells of oil, it was a great bath, one of the greatest.
Shampure can also be used as a body oil and a to do an excellent scalp massage to remove any product build up and stimulate those hair follicles for faster hair growth.
Hopefully after a few more relaxing baths and a little bit of time things will all start becoming sunny again. Sorry if this is all TMI for anyone but life and beauty blogging go hand in hand for me and personal posts are one of my favourites to write, just feel the #feels guys!

Thank you Aveda for brining the zen!

The perfect smokey eyes with 3 products : Make Up For Ever 'Smokey Lash', Burberry 'Rosewood' & Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick 'Blackmail'

Make Up Forever Smoky Lash Mascara $37.00 available from www.mediamakeupstore.com, Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Rosewood $45.00 available from www.davidjones.com.au
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick in Blackmail available from www.priceline.com.au

Step One:

Apply the soft brown shimmery shadow starting from the base of your lash line on the top and bottom lashes. The intensity of the of shadow needs to be deepest around your lashes so don't hesitate to pack it on. Then using a fluffy brush blend out the shadow so that the transition between the shadow and your skin is undetectable. This is the trick to the effortless feel of a simple smoky eye.

Step Two:

Line your top and bottom water line with a creamy kohl liner, because the Rimmel Scandal Eyes pencil is a large kohl liner it is going to go slightly onto your lower lash line more than the top. Using the same brush which applied the shadow smudge and blend out the liner on your bottom lash line. You can also use a cotton tip for this if you don't want get your brush super sticky.

Step 3:
Apply mascara and do not be stingy, put on as many layers as your lashes can handle just pile it on!
It brings the whole look together. When wearing this slightly grunge take on a smoky you can see I don't wear too much other make up at all because it can go tranny and quickly if contouring and lipstick gets involved.

This has been one of my go to looks for nights out or events lately, try it for a slightly sultry slightly grunge very sassy eye make up look!

Winter Handbag Essentials feat. Burberry, Rimmel, OPI, Make Up Store & More

Bag from Benah and wallet from Comme Des Garcons
Switching up the make up contents of my bag seasonally is essential for example during cooler months there is no need to carry around a blotting powder to control shine and its all about a dark lip and eye rather than peachy-pink gloss. Here is a sticky beak into my winter handbag and the products that have been on high rotation over Winter.

Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara $37.00
For me the only natural lashes that are acceptable are when you are asleep and wearing no make up at all, for all other times its big lashes or bust. Make Up For Ever smoky lash is the best at giving a false lash effect without being too clumpy.

Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Rosewood $45.00
Oh this eyeshadow is heaven, it is so buttery soft to apply with zero fallout. Applied close to to top and bottom lash line when wearing black kohl gives an incredible lived in chic smoky eye look, perfect for a day to night make up transition.
Available from www.davidjones.com.au

Dr Bronner's Lip Balm $4.95
Tingly lip balms are not for me, this is just a very good inexpensive fuss free lip balm that does the job. Nuff' said.
Available from www.lateralfood.com

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick in Blackmail $12.95
Smudged out and worked into your waterline I love a black kohl lined eye! It is super easy and can be applied anywhere at anytime to give your makeup an extra wow factor.
Available from www.priceline.com.au

Make Up Store Lipstick in Burgandy Cream $41.00
This winter has been all about a slight brownish red 90's lipstick, applied sheer over a lip balm or as a bold statement a'la Drew Barrymore at her wildest of times. I LOVE IT. This lipstick hasn't left my handbag all winter.
Available from www.makeupstore.se

MAC Cremeblend Blush in Poesy $41.00
Using a cream during winter is a great way to bring a bit of dewiness back to your skin, Poesy is the cutest peachy-flush of colour which is fool proof to apply.
Available from www.maccosmetics.com.au

OPI Nail Polish in Glitzerland $19.95
Gimme metallic nails all winter long, they are far more interesting than the usually wine toned dark reds that we are very easily drawn to over the winter months.
Available from www.davidjones.com.au

Cha Time Loyalty Card
I like my tea all day long, hazelnut milk, matcha green, earl grey hot and cold even a refreshing coconut and Cha Time is my tea of choice. I'm not going to let you know how many loyalty points I've clocked up but its A LOT!
Available from www.chatime.com.au

Ultraceuticals Ultra Red-Action Complex - My 90 day trial to reduce facial redness

Ultraceuticals Ultra Red-Action Complex $95.00 is available from leading skin clinics and David Jones Stores from September 2014 www.ultraceuticals.com

Facial redness is something that effects my skin, caused by sun damage over time the redness is blotchy areas over my forehead cheeks and chin - it is super annoying and I do feel self conscious without make up. Which is not how I want to feel about my skin, so I am trialling my first anti-redness product.

Ultraceuticals new Ultra-Red Action Complex was given to me to trial for 90 days coinciding with its launch in September. Why 90 days? Because if you don't notice a visible reduction in facial redness by the end of 90 days then they will give you your money back!  I started using the Ultra Red-Action Complex 4 days ago (7th August) and have set an alert in my calender 90 days from now (November 1st) I am going to post before and after makeup free photos to see if my facial redness has reduced.

The Complex is a serum and I have been applying it nightly over my entire face before applying my night oil and eye cream. It is a strong smelling gel which is very quickly absorbed by your skin which is great because I am all about getting that night time skin care routine done as fast as possible and catching up on much needed beauty sleep asap!

Above are my areas of concern with facial redness that I am hoping the Ultra Red-Action Complex can help reduce.

Do you have facial redness? Let me know in the comments, it is a very common problem especially living in Australia with harsh UVB/A rays.

John Frieda Colour Renew Tone Correcting Mouse....A texture secret weapon for fine hair!

John Frieda Colour Renew Tone Correcting Mousse $10.00 available from www.priceline.com.au

Please make welcome a new addition the Beauté Gazette family....my brand spankin' new Bangs!
Yes that's right, after not much careful consideration I decided pretty much on a whim to get a full on fringe, I know that's not what you are meant to do. But on a spare of the moment 'Wah I need a big change' moment I decided to give my forehead an accessory, in doing this my whole hair routine has changed. Prior my split ends were so bad they were actually acting as a natural texturizer....eewww so gross!
My routine now as I am with fringe is still very simple but I've added a few little va-va-voom extra steps to give my super fine hair a boost and texturize like no other.
1. Shampoo and Condition in the shower everyday, because I love clean hair. At the moment I'm using John Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Moisturising Shampoo and Conditioner.
2. Whist hair is still damp add a few drops of hair oil Aveda Dry Remedy Daily Moisturising Oilthrough to help de-tangle, brush through with my trusty Mason Pearson Bristle and Nylon brush.
3. Time for my secret texture weapon John Frieda's Colour Renew Tone Correcting Mousse, shake the can and apply mousse, I focus on the roots massaging the mousse in with my finger tips.
4. Blow dry, holding the hairdryer in a downwards motion, brushing through sporadically (I hope not sporadically! - RIP Britney Murphy) to eliminate any knots.
5. Whist hair is still warm twist into a firm bun and pin with a bobby-pin, using a bobby-pin leaves no kinks or marks.
6. I'm still getting used to styling my bangs, I use my straightener to help it sit just so and avoid too many flicky bits.
7. Take a 20min make up break, keeping the bun in for as long as I can before having to run out the door, usually 10 more minutes. The mousse helps hold the wave formed by the bun and is fair less damaging than heat styling waves into your hair.

TA-DA! Here is my new fringe and my new everyday textured tousled hair look, the mousse gives texture and hold without the grit and product build up of spray in or powder products.

Rimmel BB Cream Matte : Review and Swatches

Rimmel BB Cream Matte $12.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

Rimmel has finally got on board the already packed train of BB creams with it's latest release the Rimmel BB Cream Matte. Like all western BB creams it is not a traditional BB Korean cream, it is a sheer coverage tinted moisturiser which is very buildable. The consistency of the product when squeezed from the tube is very runny, and you have to work with it straight away otherwise it goes everywhere. On the plus side a little goes a long way and it is easily worked into your skin with fingers or a brush. If I am having a lazy day one layer applied quickly with my fingers does the job but if I need a more even and perfected 2 layers is best. I also found the more you build up the product the more mattifying it becomes, a great trick is to apply 2 layers in your more oil prone t-zone areas. A slight warning do not travel with it without putting it in a secure zip lock bag, the lid is not very secure  and I had a major leakage which completely ruined and stained my favourite make up bag. :(
But for the price it is an amazing product and I would completely recommend it for teenagers needing a light base or if you just need a cheapie no-fuss foundation for applying quickly in the morning.

The range is made up of only 3 colours, which is very limited with the choice of Light, Medium or Dark. Light works for my skin tone worked in down my neck so as not to leave a crazy-lady foundation mask line.
Rimmel BB Cream Matte $12.95 available from www.priceline.com.au

This very sleepy selfie was snapped on my first day off in 3 weeks, 'Hello eye bags, I hate you, please leave my face'. I love this foundation for lazy make up days when the maximum amount of time I am spending on my face is 5 minutes. You can see it is a very sheer coverage and imperfections and dark spots are showing through but it has evened out my skin quite a lot and I feel good leaving the house to run errands without feeling the dreaded 'I'm naked without make up on' feeling.

Friday Lipstick Jam! Nars 'Tzigane' Lipstick and Rimmel Apocalips 'Luna' + Lesley Gore's 'You Don't Own Me'

Rimmel Apocalips in 'Luna' $15.95 available from www.priceline.com.au & Nars Lipstick in 'Tzigane' available from www.meccacosmetica.com.au

Holy crap I am wearing a somewhat peachy-pinky-brown-nudish lipstick and not just one but two! Usually one to shy away from any kind of 'my lips but better' - god I hate that beauty blogging term - because they just wash me out and I look a bit Laura Palmer as is in completely dead and corpsey. But I have found a combo which seems to make me look ok, yes just ok, maybe even moderately sexy?
Firstly I apply this very 90's brown Nars lipstick in 'Tzigane',  I think this colour maybe discontinued but the shade 'Morocco' is very similar if you are at all inclined to want something similar. It makes me feel like I am Phoebe in the first season of friends (this is not a good thing), when worn on its own but with Rimmel Apocalips in 'Luna' layered over the top it becomes a mesh of brownish-peach all over my lips.
The two shades are completely unwearable separately but together - Wowzers something beautiful happens! Has anyone else ever had this lipstick situation? Or am I just trying to justify my lipstick obsession?

Now for the Jam! Lesley Gore first released 'You don't own me' in 1963 and the powerful feminist message of the song is still just as relevant today. With Lena Dunham using it in a PSA for the 2012 Obama campaign highlighting the injustice that women would face with a republican government in the white house. As woman living in a country with an extremely conservative government in power I want to yell 'You don't own me' in the face of our Prime Minister who's views on women's rights are sickening.

PEDESTRIAN BLOGSTER AWARDS! Beauté Gazette is an Instagram Finalist

If you didn't know already, I am a finalist in the PEDESTRIAN BLOGSTER AWARDS! In the 'INSTAGRAM' category, which is so exciting because I am totally obsessed with instagram.

Why am I kissin' a fish tank in the photo above? Well I am quite obviously re-enacting the famous Romeo and Juliet fish tank scene! Duh! Pedestrian gave the finalists the challenge to photograph a scene from our favourite movie..... Here is what I wrote about my love for Romeo and Juliet:
'I remember seeing Romeo + Juliet when I was 14 at the movies and I didn't understand a single thing they were yabbering about during the movie. 'Shakespear...boring!'  But what I did understand was that Leonardo Di Caprio is a total floppy haired hunk and from that day 'til now I have always wanted my own fish tank love scene. It is still the coolest movie I have ever seen and I can watch it on repeat at anytime day or night. 'Love me, Love me, say that you love me! Fool me, Fool me, go on and fool me!'

Today is the last day to vote, so please click HERE! and vote for me, all you have to do it click the 'LIKE' button. Thank you if you already have voted and thank you if you are going do it right now.
