The perfect smokey eyes with 3 products : Make Up For Ever 'Smokey Lash', Burberry 'Rosewood' & Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick 'Blackmail'

Make Up Forever Smoky Lash Mascara $37.00 available from www.mediamakeupstore.com, Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Rosewood $45.00 available from www.davidjones.com.au
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick in Blackmail available from www.priceline.com.au

Step One:

Apply the soft brown shimmery shadow starting from the base of your lash line on the top and bottom lashes. The intensity of the of shadow needs to be deepest around your lashes so don't hesitate to pack it on. Then using a fluffy brush blend out the shadow so that the transition between the shadow and your skin is undetectable. This is the trick to the effortless feel of a simple smoky eye.

Step Two:

Line your top and bottom water line with a creamy kohl liner, because the Rimmel Scandal Eyes pencil is a large kohl liner it is going to go slightly onto your lower lash line more than the top. Using the same brush which applied the shadow smudge and blend out the liner on your bottom lash line. You can also use a cotton tip for this if you don't want get your brush super sticky.

Step 3:
Apply mascara and do not be stingy, put on as many layers as your lashes can handle just pile it on!
It brings the whole look together. When wearing this slightly grunge take on a smoky you can see I don't wear too much other make up at all because it can go tranny and quickly if contouring and lipstick gets involved.

This has been one of my go to looks for nights out or events lately, try it for a slightly sultry slightly grunge very sassy eye make up look!

Lashes for days with Make Up For Ever's Smoky Lash Mascara

Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara $36.00 available from www.makeupmediastore.com (Australia) and Sephora $28.00 www.sephora.com (US)

Mascara's are often one beauty item that I prefer to save my pennies on rather than splurge and as yet I have not found a high-end mascara yet that is comparable to my favourite drug store wonders : Maybelline The Falsies, Max Factor 1000 Calories & Rimmel Scandal Eyes (in terms of value for money).
Years ago I was given a Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash sample at Sephora and I loved it, it is also raved about by one of my favourite YouTubers @Chelseawears. But alas living in Australia many brands are extremely difficult to find so when I was tipped of about Make Up For Ever being stocked on  Makeup Media Store an Australian base online beauty site without hesitation I 'Added to cart'.
When it arrived I was so excited, the mascara was just how I remembered tapered natural bristle brush - which are my favourites. The formula is quite sticky and dry which clings to the lashes and gives a matte charcoal finish once the mascara has completely dried on your lashes. It gives big va va voom volume and length, my lashes are naturally long and with mascara can get quite the flutter going on Smoky Lash is incredible at doing this. The only other comparable formula's I can think come close to Smokey Lash for big doll ares are Revlon Growlucious and Estee Lauder's Magnascopic Maximum Volume.
So if like me you like big lashes and lots of mascara then Smoky Lash by Make Up For Ever is definitely worth a try, if you can get your hands on it.

SHOW GIRLS : Dior Spring Summer 2013 Beauty

The Dior girl loves makeup, she knows about beauty trends but also has her holy grail items that she wouldn't live without. Starting with the perfected seamless base which foundation with a good coverage was buffed into the skin leaving a 'done' satin finish - Dior girls are always 'done'. Highlighter was used on the high points of the face, brow, cheeks and cupids bow and that was it -  a very perfect and pretty base.
For the eyes which Makeup Artist Pat Mc Grath described as 'Techno-butterflies' a cream colour pigment base was first layed down on the models eyes and taken up to the centre of the brow and ended at that brow tail. This opaque wash of colour was either in a bright powder blue or a strong lilac, applied with flat shader brushes, the shape was perfected and geometric with no blending. On top of the flat colour contrasting Swarovski crystals were placed in formations to create shape to the eyes, none two girls were the same just like the wings of a butterfly.
Although this look is very runway, try adapting the look yourself by perfecting your base and using a cream pigment and  create a more subtle and wearable shape on your eyes. Whenever using a strong colour like this on your eyes always line your upper waterline to give your eyes some definition.

Make up For Ever available from PM Studio www.pmstudio.com
Illamasqua is avaiable through Myer in Australia and www.illamasqua.com

What has been your favorite show makeup of the season?

Mascara Madness: Volume Vs Length

Even if I am not leaving the house for the day I will still put mascara on, being very fair my eyelashes look naked without a thick application of black mascara. Natural lashes are not my thing I like them big, thick and black!
Mascara is one of the few things that you cannot test before you buy it, and if you do then you are going to get a nasty case of pink eye. Here are my tips for the best volumizing and best lengthening mascaras.

This is really good at getting the roots of your lashes, just hold the brush at the roots and wiggle up. Dior mascara's formula is quite dry and they don't last as long as other brands. It feels like you have mascara on when you wear this or maybe a set of demi false lashes, which I like. If you already have thick or long lashes then this is just going to enhance what you already have.

If you want thick lashes this is your mascara, I usually wipe half the amount of product that comes out off with a tissue first and then with the next couple of coats I put more and more product on the brush. It feels like there is alot of product in the tube and it lasts quite a while without drying out - although you should change mascara every 3 months for hygiene.

If your go to look is just a bit of smudged eyeliner and lots of mascara, then Smokey Lash is perfect for you. It dries to a really matte jet black and blends into the eyeliner on your waterline seamlessly. The waterproof version is the best waterproof mascara I have ever used, you could do 25 laps in a heated pool and it still wouldn't budge - the British synchronised swimming team uses Make Up For Ever products!

Quite a wet formula, but this mascara gives you a little time to work with it and build it up before it dries. If you like plastic brushes this is probably the best, very flexible and bendy.

Cutest packaging of all the mascara's award! Awwwww. Doll Eyes is perfect to get to the little inner corner lashes to give you a twiggy-esque 60's look. For bottom lashes hold the brush vertically and with the tip make little strokes this will coat them really well making them defined and very pretty.

The 2000 Calorie line mascara line has been around for like ever, now with a few different varieties available. It disperses the most perfect amount of product on the brush to give your lashes a thin coating from the base to the tip, I do need to curl my lashes when using this mascara though.

Zoom Lash is a very wet formula, I wipe off most of the product from the brush onto a tissue before applying it to my lashes. But after a couple of coats it is ON! Seriously once I got dumped by a boy and cried 3 times in 45mins and it stayed in place expelling tears like a pro. Turning to him worried my mascara was running down my face he said no your mascara is fine -  at that point I knew I had to tell babes about this mascara. If you are going on a date to see a really sad movie say something like My Sisters Keeper that level of crytown you should definitely wear Mac's Zoom Lash.

If you are someone who likes the idea of wearing makeup but you don't want people to be able to tell you are actually wearing a full face of make up (not me!) Laura Mercier's Long Lash gives the most fluttery long subtle lashes. Perfect for no-makeup makeup.

If you can get passed the packaging this is a really good mascara. Like really good! It gets the base of the lash at the tightline of your eyelid and then will coat the lash to the tip. This is not clumpy at all and will fan your lashes out. A wet formula but gives you time to push your lashes into shape before drying.
