Just like Honey......

My bedside table never looked so cute!

My favourite memories of being a teenager are always linked to perfumes, like when I was 14 and  every girl in my whole grade discovered Tommy Girl - the corridors and P.E change rooms were drenched in it's distinctive sticky sweet smell. Like when I saved all my money from my first job to buy a bottle of Gucci Rush, I was crazy for that plastic packaging! Like when my first boyfriend bought me a bottle Ralph Lauren Romance and gave it to me at the bus stop.
Smelling a fragrance can unlock so many memories, when I first smelt Honey the new fragrance from Marc Jacobs I was flooded with everything sweet and good from my teenage glory days:

Spice Girls, watching Video hits and eating ice cream for breakfast, crop tops and hipster jeans, glitter eye shadow, Lancome Juicy Tubes, Romeo and Juliet at the movies, 5ive, my best friend Leigh Munday and I cutting out Hanson collages, pashing boys at the park and being home by 5.30pm, Alex Mac, Pocket money, Buffy, knowing my ICQ number off by heart, Nokia 5110's, Pizza Pockets, decorating my school diary in so many stickers there was no space to write home work, my beloved Clinque 3 step skincare routine and watching Now and Then on repeat during school holidays!

Honey is sweet and girly, it is what the coolest girl in school smells like, it is what you want to wear on your first date to the movies, it is my new favourite smell.

Beauté Gazette LOVES Chloé Intense

Chloé Intense AU$90.00 / 50ml available from David Jones Australia wide and www.strawberry.com

Let me start by saying I am not a big perfume junky, I cannot stand a perfume which gets on your clothing and stains it with smell or a perfume that lingers on your skin and you get a woft of it throughout the day. Basically I like a subtle scent that is almost un-noticeable to myself after applying, nothing too pongy.

Classic and pretty scents are usually what I gravitate toward always with a rose or floral undertone. Chloé Intense is a womanly grown-up scent for me not ditzy and overly sweet like I would have LOVED when I was a teenager and not heavy with dark oils which give me a headache, Chloé Intense has a happy soft simplicity about it. A well rounded clean scent without obvious top notes, with base notes of muted rose and also plenty of subtle woody-honey notes which create depth. There is the slightest amount of amber which lingers making it a lovely scent to wear at night also.

Let's talk packaging and branding because to be honest that is more than half a reason I like or purchase a fragrance, the bottle is almost everything. Chloé as a label is known for it's femininity as a brand, beautiful classic tailoring and silks of soft peach-greys and perfect nudes. The Chloé fragrance campaigns fronted by modern blonde beauty's Clemencé Posey, Chloé Sevigny and most recently Imogen Poots - perfect for a blonde like moi! The heavy classic ridged glass packaging is beautiful, perfect to display on your dresser or night stand, which is where a woman's perfume should be not tucked away in a cupboard.

Perfume should not be a polarising extreme part of your beauty routine, it should enhance your mood and be soft and subtle as to not offend anyone and not so strong it wilts flowers and gives you a headache.

What is your signature perfume? And why are you drawn to it?

Celebrity Fragrance : Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday

\
With the constant onslaught of gimmicky celebrity fragrances being launched recently - Lady Gaga's Fame the first black perfume?! Even Snooki has one. I have only just seen Nicki Minaj's newest offering 'Pink Friday' and as Nicki said “My fans are going to spaz out when they see this.” - I am totally spazzing out.
The bottle is completely incredible, I am assuming you take the wig off and the spray pump is underneath, this is cringingly cool. Also the actual liquid looks to be pink, take that Lady Gaga! Nicki describe 'Pink Friday' as “a celebration of my life at this moment; it is a reflection of me as a creator, and an expression of me as a woman,” LOL!
Because I haven't yet smelt 'Pink Friday' I will just regurgitate Nicki's description 'Fruit, vanilla and musk' hmmmmmm sounds sickenly sweet like most other celebrity fragrances.
With her own MAC Viva Glam lipstick and a collaboration with OPI (both of which I love!)  Nicki's fragrance is certainly not her first foray into the beauty industry and let's not hope it's her last.
I have no idea when 'Pink Friday' will launch in Australia but I am sure there will be a huge OTT stand to match the bottle in every major department store around Australia very soon.
